I notice there is an EV discussion thread, but not a show us your EV.... there are so many around now and all different types, it would be nice to see what people got.

It doesnt need to be turned into a discussion thread, just pics and why you chose it would be really good. It might give others some food for thought.

Thanks

ps i dont have one myself, but i do keep looking and thinking i maybe should in the next few years and use up some excess solar.

Would show you a picture of my tesla but it has the habit of uncontrollably speeding to top speed, ensuring I reach my destination in the quickest possible time, even going 100mph through school zones and 30mph roads, it then locks me in the car and self combusts, so it keeps me nice and warm and I get fourth degree burns.

Which is nice.

It's a white Model Y isn't it?

Let's not kid ourselves, EVs aren't exactly low emission when you consider manufacturing, electricity generation, tyres, brakes etc. If we want to make an actual difference we need to use more public transport.

Especially with them evolving so quickly, no point in keeping beyond 3 years, I’ll just get the next deal.

Loving ours though and I was pretty anti EV years ago.

They’ve come a long way.

We needed a new ICE car last year but I cut through all the mythical BS about EVs and the wife chose this.
At our age we're not into save the planet, we're not vegans, I don't have a manbun or manbag but I do wear sexy ladies undies.
We do no more than 100 miles a week and for the price it was a no brainer.
With Octopus iGo we're saving so much fuel money and also electric in the house because of the cheap electricity at 7p/Kw.
We have not been fooled by EV agendas.

Is it just me or are electric vehicles weirdly ugly most of the time? I'm not being an ass here, I see the benefits but most of those that I see look like proverbial pugs from the dog world outside of Tesla's and I still think they tend to look cheap and nasty.

The MG above from @Raymond Lin looks really nice from that angle, is this a weird trend or were car manufacturers trying to make their electric cars stand out more with certain designs?

I'm not a big car guy, and I realise taste is subjective, it's just a head scratching moment. I felt the same way with early hybrids, it was like they made them hideous on purpose so that people knew what was being driven.

Some of it is aerodynamics to maximise range as you don’t need the same airflow for cooling that a ICE does - some of it trying to be hip and trendy with futuristic stuff. Some can be very marmite…

Picked this up in June last year to replace our Seat Leon. Been really good so far and being able to charge at home has been great.

Even longer trips during that time have been ok with finding places to charge, never had to queue to plug in yet.

We have been conditioned for our entire lives to desire traits that are needed for large engined combustion cars, and it's become a defining trait of the look of premium vehicles.

Look at how car companies use a common design language for the grill/radiator/wings of their cars, and this has all come from the fundamental design requirement to cool and house the engine/gearbox. As such these functional requirements have been front and centre of the design language for 100 years.

Now we are being asked to value something different, and a big open grill with a long bonnet is just not needed to house the important mechanisms, in-fact it is totally contrary to the requirements of an EV.

Is it any wonder that we might find these new designs a bit unwieldy or ugly? It will change with time, but this is such a fundamental shift in technology that companies are trying to either shoe-horn into their old design philosophy or even doing something completely different to excentuate that these cars are indeed something totally different.
