I just came back from a walk (~6:30pm) and I could see at least 3 unusually bright ‘stars’ in the sky, which I’m sure were some of these:

Worth keeping an eye out for, it was quite cool! Not sure if they are ‘out all night’ or what… but yes, fun!

You laugh, but that’s where the name comes from - in Greek mythology it was the boob milk from Hera spreading across the sky…

It highlights how much we, as a civilization, have lost connection with the stars due to modern levels of light pollution. The ancients experienced the night sky in a way that many of us today simply dont get to experience and it shaped their lives and beliefs in a way that has been lost today. We marvel when we get a super clear starry night or we're in one of those locations where we can view the night sky in proper darkness yet those nights will have been commonplace for people from ancient times.

And how much attention they paid - they could see the 5 planets changing position every night and knew they were different from everything else in the sky which remained essentially static. They called them Wanderers, or Planetae.
