*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

I would have been happy with them bumping the CUs a single block to 72 in which case it would be neck and neck with 5080. Of they sold it at £800, they could have utterly owned that segment considering you can't find a 5080 for under £1200.

5080, yes, its 25% faster, an 80 CU die would do it, a die like that would only be a bit over 400mm and maybe 375 watts.

The problem AMD have is the lengths Nvidia are willing to go to to brute force a convincing win.

The 5090 is 750mm, an absolutely insane size and its 600 watts is equally ridiculous, AMD are just never going to do this.

The thing about this tho is eventually Nvidia will run in to a wall of what's possible.

FSR4 on Left and DLSS P on right. FSR 3.1 in middle.

The upside is that you have a choice, buy a card with that connector or with 3 x 8pin. I know which I'm doing. In time we will see if there are any problems with the connector being used on a lower power draw card.

I would go with that, the one in the middle is obviously worse, left and right are near identical but the one on the left is ever so slightly better, this is a good result from FSR 4.

The one on the left looks much better than the one on the right to me.

Following seeing reviews I'm struggling to see how a 9070XT is a justifying upgrade over my 7900XT.
It isn’t.
A nice jump in RT probably isn’t worth the cost since general raster isn’t much better.
It pains to say it but the best option is probably to wait for something like a 9080.
I was sure I’d be upgrading my 3080 but now the dust has settled I don’t think I will. (Yet)
Not enough performance improvement for a reasonable amount of money is the reason - from either AMD or Nvidia.

Yes it looks better but somehow DF found the game in which FSR4 had slightly less clarity (HFW) than DLSSP. We will have to see what Hardware Unboxed has to say.
