retailers need to make 28-40% margin over the whole buisiness to make a profit some like the steel legend card they sold at 8% is nearly pointless pick/pack/invoice/transaction fees will all eat into that

so the steel legend is costing something like the below my maths are slightly out so will be a few quid more

£480 before vat they then put on 8% margin so ( the earlier cards had a £50 rebate on them so a false £430 cost )

£527 £47 profit

vat is then added

£632.40

in an Ideal world you need to be selling that at 15% min so £564 but Oc might have a volume rebate with asrock but this will be something agreed at a boardroom level and never effect sales price well unless your in a job like mine with fluid customer pricing

joe blogs might pay £50 for something

Tim who you like and want to grow buisiness with might only pay £28 for the same product

My 3090 FTW3 is dying so I need a card to replace and £569 seems a fair price for a card that will perform better for most games (albeit with admittedly less VRAM which is shame) had I managed to snag one.

AIBs pass on the rebates to the retailers, but AMD appear to be the actual starting point on whether AIBs can let retailers offer the MSRP pricing or not since AMD is offering the rebate to the AIB and retailer I would expect gets all or at least a portion of that rebate passed onto them.

The retailer gets the rebate because the AIB has already got the full price for the card for from the retailer.
If the AIB decides to sell X amount of cards at a lower price then it's themselves that takes the hit, not the retailer or AMD.

The whole market is screwed, I initially wanted a 5080 been on the hunt cheapest you can get is £1200 presently, the 5070ti is a joke for the price, this is the best of the slop I'd say. The industry needs to implode, suffer a little and then we'll get back to fair priced tech

The only way that will happen is if people exit the market.

However, as demonstrated time and time again, gamers as a collective have zero self restraint and will buy anything and everything from £lol horse armour to silly overpriced hardware.

It’s both interesting observing peoples behaviour from the outside looking in but also massively depressing seeing how effective a few £ spend on marketing really is these days.

I see the cheapest is now £630 with that rebate ending. Whats the odds of more coming in at £570 again, as thats pretty much my limit for this card TBH. I would have probably gone for the base 9070 if it was a bit cheaper but the more expensive the XT goes the less interest I have as it starts hitting 5070ti Territory soon enough.
 
I'm glad I decided to skip. I was set on buying one for fear I wouldn't be able to get a card again at a reasonable price, but I had a moment of clarity, and realized what I have now does work for my needs. It is a terrible thing the way the market is gone where you can't take time and make rational decisions, often feeling pressured into making impulsive decisions in case you miss your chance. The sad thing is, this is the new normal. It's extremely unlikely to change unless there's a real shake up in competition or if some kind of new consumer protection is introduced to force these companies to be more fair, no artificial shortages and so forth.

Felt similar to you I guess.

Actually removed an order that looked like it was going through. I don't game much really and my current setup is therefore still 'new' to me. The card is really good though with the £569 price looking great.

I did think about getting one regardless as could always sell it. But do I really want to be going down that road, not really. Let someone else have it.

I will be upgrading though for GTA6 whenever that does eventually come to PC.

Wonder what will be the thing to have at that time....

Morning ladies and gentlemen, sadly i wasnt able to secure a card for msrp yesterday, does anyone know if there is going to be any more stock added today and what the availability will be like?
 
I'll be keeping eye out the next few weeks, my 3080 can still play fine at 1440p for now, vram is just limiting factor for 4k gaming for me.
 
Didn't manage to get one in the late-evening drop. Entered OTP but out of stock. Glad there was a lot of reports from forum members snagging at that time though rather than just a bot armada.

Who knows when we'll see some for £569 again, but until them I'm back out of the market.

Why is there no basket protection on OcUK?

Hugely disappointed with overclockers. Made the launch absolutely miserable for me. Being loyal has cost me another £40 as I didn't try any other retailers. Putting a new gpu on the back burner might even just get a second hand one.

Based on what Gibbo has said about having +1000 of units of each brand and the MSRP rebates only being applied to a limited number of units (anything from 50-300 units) I'd say the likelihood is high.

Having said that they won't have the MSRP rebates applied to them so they'll be a bit more expensive, how much more expensive is going to depend on the brand and retailer.
