Dell PC blank screen boot issue.

I've been told to take a look at this work pc. one day it was working, left on over night, the following day it started getting the blue screen of death, later that day it would not boot at all, Check the HDD and and it seam the drive has gone bad.

The funny thing is the PC is also having issues, installed a new drive but it boots up to a black screen, I tried a few things but no changes.
I then removed one of the RAM sticks and booted it again, loads up to bios, telling me the RAM has changed and then windows loads, but when you restart the PC again or turn the pc off and then on, you have the same issues.

Does anyone have any ideas of the issues, is it the motherboard ?

Have you searched online for any Dell support/forums with any similar issues with that PC?

It does sounds like it could be motherboard related. Without knowing the specific model number, quickest and easiest thing to try could be to try replacing the BIOS battery. But again depends on the model.

I doubt it would have but have you tried a clear cmos on it?

What are the specs of the PC? does it have a dedicated GPU or uses an IGPU?

As mentioned above, if you have the make\model google may help narrow down the fault

Could a BIOS update have affected power levels, particularly to your RAM? If you know you had auto-updates enabled, maybe check if the BIOS was updated. You may need to adjust the power settings or RAM profile - try 'default' or XMP if the option is available.

Im sure it motherboard related, I can get it to boot but only by taking the steps above, The model is Dell precision T1700, Intel 4770 , I have found a few people with the same issue but no solution yet, a few people have suggested its taking out the cmos but i have tried that but it did not help or a ram issue but it run find if a make change to the ram, but still using the same ram. this is the 2nd dell pc with motherboard issues and both had a intel 4000 CPU, I have removed the external graphics card CPU

I dont think I had the auto update bios on, but I check and mack changes if needed.

I think it maybe back up and running again.

I got it booted up, by changing the ram size, Reset the bios to default updated the date and time, exited and it loaded windows I updated the bios to the latest bios and at the moment things look ok, if restated and shut it down a few times and I don't get the black screen. hopefully it stays this way now.

I've never heard of an auto Bios update, it would be too dangerous, compared to choosing a time to do it manually, so I really doubt it has anything to do with that.
If it is boot ng with one stick of ram even with a ram has been changed warning, just accept the warning and press the prompt to go into bios, from there enter the ram part of the bios, and set it to default, or xmp, if it gives you the option of xmp choose the slowest speed, turn the PC off, put the other stick in, and out a few times, then try booting into bios again
