OcUK GUIDE TO ORDERING YOUR AMD 9070 GRAPHICS CARD TODAY AT 14:00

The TUF is a poor choice IMO. Way over priced.

VRM components are pretty much the same between cards. As I've been looking mainly at XT PCBs, only the 2x8pin models have 2 phases missing, which doesn't seem like a big issue. Cards are basically tiered by their VBIOS for power limit, cooler, etc.

Depends on the cards you compare. The basic models have 12 phase and the higher end ones, like the Nitro, have 16 phases. So they are actually 4 phases short. Not sure how many of the other higher models have 16.
Sapphire range goes:
Pulse: 12 phases
Pure: 14 Phases
Nitro: 16 Phases
The XT Nitro+ Sapphire state 16 link, see TPU review (W1zzard has count on VRAM wrong 2+1 not 3+1), link. GPU 10+3 VRAM 2+1 =16 phases.

Pulse drops 2, link. Pure drops 2, link. Pure is not 14 and Pulse is not 12, both are same, link.

Currently there are only 2 types of VRM "makeup" I have seen so far on XT.

For the idiots among us (me), what does more phases mean?
Higher phase count, greater power handling capability.
Higher phase count, may result in cleaner power delivery as more components.
Higher phase count, just due to extra components used, the power is spread through more components, may result in cooler running VRM.

Monolithic MPS MP87993 DrMOS apparently 90A used on XT Nitro+, so you have quite a lot there. Most use that mosfet, as the controllers for VRM are Monolithic Power Systems MP2868A.

Some I have seen use same controller, but slightly differing mosfet from Monolithic, perhaps older version of mosfet, one card a non XT I think had 50A IIRC.

Following day OCUK was also busy. Launch day one site I had message stating site is down no connection.

Some what I'm shocked at the numbers of cards that are selling, not as it's AMD, etc. Gibbo highlighted in OP 5000 cards plus more have come in. Then if take into account other sites, it's seems quite a lot in short space of time.

try their warranty services...you will see how great the Asus is.
Evga was charging a bit more (and that was backed up by a proper engineering.and only for better models) but at least you could see why you paid the premium... and if anything went wrong, you weren't alone, they would sort it out. Now, I would chose Zotac over Asus, anytime. To me, Asus is the worst aib, ever.
Miss Evga so much but no-one can fight with leather jacket's vision, so they had no choice but to go down.
Yep - I had to send a phone in to them (because a cable and port was playing up) - they packaged the phone so badly it returned with the glass screen protector smashed - thank god it had one.

It's still considered a lower tier compared to strix, astral etc. It's basically their entry level card at this point. A more minimalist design compared to the others. And definitely not worth £800.
Is TUF Lower tier than Strix/Astral? Yes.

Is TUF entry level componentry on the PCB? Unless there is a change in this generation compared to last generation, No regardless of Red or Green.

In terms of the 'correct level' of engineering required for a GPU card, the TUF will be top in the PCB teardowns, even against the Nitro+ which in itself is also a mid-range card.

The Power-Color Red Devil is not a mid-range PCB and never has been. If they are the same price, I would buy a Red-Devil everytime if PCB and Cooler were the priority over Warranty.
