NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

So many people are in the barcode queue, getting FE's should be easier, because the queue prevents them getting an FE due to the one card per address policy.

That said today there must have only been a couple of cards availble because they were sold out immediatley

Fe is counted separately. Technically you can get two. At least this is 100% how it was for 40 series.

I bought an FE and have one in the queue - Not had my order cancelled.

This isn't accurate, there's somebody in here who bagged on the 2nd FE drop last month who was in the queue.

Yeah same i had an Astral 5090 on preorder and when the FE dropped last month was able to get one .... I did think it may have been an issue but was absolutely fine .

Bah I have given up. Wanted an FE 5080 or 5090, but missed the drop again. Editing 10-bit 422 HEVC on my CPU is making me die a little inside every day so just ordered a 5070ti so at least my video editing will be painfree.

Might even keep my 4070 in and see how da vinci resolve goes with multi-GPU.
Well I may just cancel this order actually as I've discovered Da Vinci Resolve doesn't support the 50-series yet

Apparently nvidia botched this release and broke backwards compatibility with a load of stuff and didn't release SDKs in time.

6 weeks from launch and still practically impossible to get a 5090. So much for the stock being “stupidly high in march”.

I really do want a 5090 and don’t want to cut my nose off to spite my face but I’m at the point where I really don’t want to be putting any money in nvidia’s pocket. What a horrible dishonest company they are.

Retailers are showing their true colours as well tbh.

Playing devil's advocate for the retail, we don't know the buy in prices from distributors now. More than likely if they held the line one or two retailers willing to fleece will buy all the stock at the higher price.

Does make me think the barcode competition lines at rrp prices are going to be a long time to be fulfilled.

Yeah, that's my worry on the queues. The lower-cost cards like the Palit Gamerock 5090 just haven't been landing there in anything like the volumes that they have elsewhere. They've shipped 10 cards total since launch day, while OCUK have been well over twice that (possibly more than thrice).

We're all frustrated by the situation. Even those who have "scored" cards I know are left with a very bad taste with other friends who have been diehard PC gaming enthusiasts for the past 20+ years (with money to spend) just throwing in the towel and mkving to another hobby -- what I probably should have done weeks ago.

And it's not just the awful way nV and retailers have been conducting themselves, but the time and frustration spent trawling alerts and forums. I for one know my time is worth exceedingly, quantifiably, heads and shoulders more than the potential value delivered by having to check sites and alerts hourly to "snag" a 5090. Even if I got one today for a reasonable price, I still need reconcile the restrospective bill to myself on my time spent -- it's an insult to injury we're all bearing here.

A word on retailers involvement in this mess... I was really giving them the benefit of the doubt here even after we saw the first wave of inflated prices. After all, with the pathetic supply of the 5-series they need to make cost somehow (where otherwise and historically they'd make by volume sales). But seeing that they continue to add their own scalper cuts on top of an already outrageous RRP -- especially on the higher-volume 9700s - is, employing non-colorful adjectives, extremely distastful.

Why would you want 2 ?
I'm in the same boat. I have a confirmed FE order from this morning, plus I'm in the Palit GameRock queue.

There's no chance I'm going to cancel the pre-order until I've installed the FE and checked that it works and that the ROPs are correct, etc. Once that's clear I'll cancel the pre-order.

I wouldn't want to risk a potentially long returns / RMA process with nothing as a backup.
