The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Seems strange two cards exhibiting the same thing. I've not experienced anything like that with my Gaming OC and notice no discernible coil whine.

Is the NR200P Max V2 a recent purchase? Could potentially be the PSU as I've seen quite a few reports of the CM850 suffering from quite severe coil whine under load. Could try and create a DIY 'stethoscope' out of some rolled out card or rubber hose to try and pinpoint where the whine is originating. Or try the card in another PC if that's an option.
dude, i think you literally saved me a £700 headache. Luckily my sister is a doc, so i ran to her to borrow a stethoscope and lo and behold, it’s the psu, both sounds seem so close to the ear but it was definitely louder and closer sounding from the psu.

Darn it, i guess i’ll try to RMA the power supply, but may just buy a new one, any recommendations for a good SFX PSU, 850w+?

Once people confirm the cards,I will need:
1.)The Brand
2.)Whether it is an RX9070 or RX9070XT
3.)Model
4.)Date Received

Sorry @CAT-THE-FIFTH I forgot to add the details for your list to my initial post.

2) RX 9070
3) Nitro +

Been having another play with it today and managed to improve some of my 3D Mark scores a little, but mostly I've been impressed with how it performs at 80% power. With the same -148mV I was using before the scores are almost identical to what it gets at stock.

Time Spy graphics scores:

Stock: 27,595 (245w, 2,776MHz)
110%, -148mV: 31,227 (270w, 3,137MHz)
100%, -148mV: 29,222 (245w, 3,132MHz)
80%, -148mV: 27,015 (196w, 2,760MHz)
70%, -148mV: 23,993 (172w, 2,346MHz)

And it's a similar story with the other tests, at 80% it's just behind stock. Which suits me, I think that performance at 80% will be enough for the majority of my needs and I'll have plenty of performance in reserve for the more demanding games.

Put that computer on your window

red light in a window... red light window? place to gawp at tech p**n....weird though when I put it to red, my pc doesn't go into sleep mode, so it's still blazing rgb all night
I went red in honour of my 1st amd card, but comments like that going back to my aqua blue. I don't want people getting the wrong impression of me , though my son is colour blind so red is his favourite colour.
am loving the hidden cables...makes me want to try a btf build..except although plenty of cases now that are btf compatible..where are all the motherboards. whats the bloomin' point retooling the cases if you can't actually put a mobo in to utilise it

What CPU are you using out of interest?

That was handy! Glad you managed to pinpoint the source of the noise.

I've just built an SFF pc with the Gaming OC and opted for a Corsair SF850 (2024 version). Really pleased with the PSU (& card) so far.

i am confused about the core overclock , some people say dont touch the max frequency offset and just do the undervolt and the card will boost on its own , some people put some offset , has anyone done some comparisons , and is fast timings much more unstable when selected ? and also some people use asus gpu tweak to overclock some use the built in software overclock ? which is better , i know on nvidia card i would use the asus gpu tweak only cause the memory was limited to +2000mhz on msi afterburner but not on asus gpu tweak
I've found it confusing too. When I initially got the card and was overclocking it I thought adding a clock offset was making a difference, but today I'm getting the same scores without an offset, so it seems it doesn't. As for what software to use, I'd say whatever you find works best for you. Personally I think AMD's Adrenalin software is a bit of a mess and much prefer to use GPU Tweak; it's simple and as you say it often has a wider range of adjustment.

Undervolting gives the most benefit tweaking offset is pretty much the last thing

There is RGB off in bios so when you go to shut down it shuts led off

Decided to bodge some water cooling on my card today. If any one is interested, I've taken some pictures of the PCB for the Reaper, and my questionable attempt at hybrid air/water cooling my card:

When taking it apart, I did notice that the memory thermal pads don't seem like they are getting squished against the stock cooler, might explain why this model seems to run a couple of degrees warmer than others. Some thermal putty would probably be a good swap to improve performance a bit.

I’ve only used the free version, is the full version worth it? Genuine question….
err..I've only ever used the free one too...just bought it, and only tried time spy so far......you do get way more...so free demo gave steel nomad,
whereas the whole suite gives speedway, steel nomad, steel nomad lite, port royal, solar bay, time spy extreme, time spy, fire strike ultra, fire strike extreme, fire strike, wild life extreme, wild life, night raid, cpu profile...err then there's directx raytracing feature test, mesh shader, pci express feature test, sampler feedback, vrs feature, fsr feature test, xess test, dlss test

so a bit of fun for a little outlay..forgot to check cd keys..cheaper, but as only paid £7, not too fussed. I've never had an amd card so don't reaslly know what I'm doing in the software, but I guess after tweaking stuff, you can see how it changes the results
