NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Lmao do you not remember the Nintendo Switch
Hey, I got a launch day Switch no problem - walked into a high street gaming retailer with a purple logo (not sure if they count as a competitor) and bought one. I also noted, with mild hilarity, that as I was walking home, two people dashed past me with a Switch in a purple-logo bag under each arm, then put on their staff lanyards as they turned into the red logo place sometimes called "The Fence's Friend" that likes a bit of high-street scalping (again, not sure if they count as a competitor). It was bad, but it wasn't on the level of the 5090 release

This is literally what they have done! Their press release ahead of GDC was to claim that the 50 series shipments exceeds all the 40 series at the same time in its lifespan. I haven't tracked numbers from each generation but I'm fairly confident this is complete BS because you could only get a 4090 for the first month IIRC! GN said in their video yesterday that they're doing a whole piece on it after going over the press release.
I remember picking up a Zotac 4090 in December 22 without an issue.
I also remember picking up a 3090 a month after they had launched which was during the GPU shortage.
This is by far the worst Nvidia launch in recent memory but there seems to be no effort on Nvidia’s part to put it right.

Surprise - it's now the 13th (expected shipping date) and it's moved to 14th-15th. Bet it changes again tomorrow!
As suspected - it's now 15th to 16th. I wonder if the have some sort of algorithm that just adds +1 to the shipping date when it's reached?!

My ETA by queue position seems to update every morning to the next day and currently 15/03/25
My estimated dispatch date is still 10th-11th march
Estimated delivery date is still 13th march 2025.

Interestingly estimated dispatch date doesn't specify year...

I don’t think they have a clue when they’re going to be getting a shipment of whatever model. It’s probably a surprise when it shows up at their premises which doesn’t bode well when you think they’ve probably overdone the pre-orders, especially for the 5090 series.

Have OCUK shipped all their preorders? I can't remember which cards they took preorders for and there aren't as many people posting here on their queue position or when they get their cards.

Has anyone preordered or recieved any of the liquid 5090's?

I preferred when there was no ETA. At least I wasn't getting my hopes up! It was 10th, then 13th, 14th, 15th. By the end of today, it'll probably be 17th.
I'm now no.1 in the queue, so no matter how small the next shipment is, mine should be the next one to ship. There were 2 came in on Monday!

Honestly, looking at some of the articles published last night, I think it's more that they're struggling to order in any cards at prices that wouldn't leave them hundreds of pounds out of pocket per order.

I do appreciate that they've so far not jacked up the prices for any pre-orders, despite reserving the right to do so, but I wonder if they now need to start giving people in the queue a choice of three options:

- Pay more and have a chance of getting a card in the next couple of months.
- Hold on at the current price and acknowledge it may be a long time before cards come through.
- Cancel.

My Palit Gamerock 5090 was ordered for £2150. Since then, the lowest that card has been seen anywhere was £2230 and that was when Palit sold some cards themselves directly via the Very Large Competitor.

This is what worries me when they say we have had a shipment of x as it only seems to a few at most.
When they first started with the updates, it was a shipment or small shipment and a small shipment now appears to be just a shipment.
I wish they were honest about how many they have received but I guess they are too embarrassed about the little they receive.

From what I've been able to work out going off queue position reports here and on their discord, a "small shipment" is 1-2 cards and a "shipment" is anything larger than that. So yesterday's 5090 Windforce shipment didn't get the "small" modifier, despite being just three cards.

Where are you seeing estimated shipping dates and queues?

The pre-order people are advertising themselves as the “best” place to get your card but they seem to be the most dishonest

Honestly, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt here. I've been pretty rude about them in recent weeks, as my queue position fails to move, but the new revelations that retailers themselves are having to pay hugely inflated prices to pay stock sheds a different light on it. They took pre-orders at the "baseline" price for each model. To buy in stock of those cards now, they would have to pay hundreds of pounds more than those "baseline" prices. So they either do so and take the reputation hit from asking people with pre-orders to pay more, or they hold tight, get next to no stock for a while and hope things improve. For now, they're going for the latter.

This also makes it pretty clear why certain competitors with vastly inflated prices, particularly the... ah... one in need of an audit... keep getting decent-sized stock drops.

Just refresh and my queue position has disappeared altogether,
Was number 20, I wonder if that means it's shipping
