NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Long time lurker, but figured I'd share my experience with the queue retailer after being part of the mad rush at 1400 on release day:

Eventually got an order in for an Asus 5090 TUF around 1600. Entered at position #21.

My queue went down to #2 a week and a half ago and had an estimated shipping date of same day, which was then moved by a week the next day. I think their algorithms just assumed that I'd get one next day until things were manually updated with a new estimated shipping date.

A week later on the specified date another drop happened and I now I have my 5090 TUF in hand as of 2 days ago.

Quick summary of the card itself:

Overall very impressed with it. Core clocks sit at 2710mhz happily gaming, with occasional boosts up to 2910mhz, 500mhz above guaranteed boost. Thermals are good sitting in the 70s on air cooling and it's not as loud as my CPU cooling when at full pelt (which only happens when stress testing). Coil whine and sound on par with my old TUF 3080. Total power draw (measured at wall) under heavy gaming load is 700-800W, was worried my 1000w PSU might not be enough given my 14900k and 8 internal drives, but all is good. Had no instability. And yes I have the correct number of ROPS (first thing I checked!).

I've not touched any OC'ing - frankly don't see the need to with good results like this, though have heard MSI Afterburner has some issues with the 5090 when reverting profiles anyway.

Anyway hope this gives some hope back to home folks! Happy gaming all, until the next release cycle!

Nice run down. Congrats on that TUF.

What PSU are you using? I too have a 1000w (EVGA SuperNova) and worried a bit about stability.

A 5090 astral dropped at 2800 just now, that's nearly an extra 200 on what I've outlayed already. If it comes around again at that price I'm jumping on it I think. My times worth more than that

I bought one for that price last Friday, and paid for next day delivery. They confirmed for delivery for last Saturday on my web account page and by email. Waited in all day but the card didn't turn up. Contacted them on Monday and they said they didn't have any and I would be in a queue with delivery around mid April.

Anyway got a Gaming Trio coming next Wednesday now (if it turns up), but I will stay in the queue for the Astral just to see what happens. If it eventually arrives I might stick it on ebay for £4k to mitigate the cost of the Gaming Trio.

My palit RTX 5080 gaming pro i've had pre-ordered since 6th February just shipped from another place with a queue system was 3rd for about 2 weeks, never charged me anything extra which is good so I got the card at the max price I wanted to pay.

be good to finally finish this build now.

I've got the Corsair HX1000i, older model before the 12VHPWR, so I'm using the rather ungainly 4x 8 pin to 12 pin converter that came in the box. Wires haven't been getting too hot. Actually feel like it's probably safer this way anyway, since I know power draw is being spread over more cables due to the 150w limit on each of the 8 pin connectors

Have confirmed there has been no power related throttling, done combined CPU and GPU load stress testing with prime95 and furmark, both sit at their power limits (approx 280w for the 12900k, and 575w for the 5090). The at wall draw is a tad over 900w in this unrealistic scenario, which when calculating for efficiency loss actually puts the PSU somewhere near its peak efficiency load (80ish percent load) so I'm not complaining at all.

My gaming pro 5070ti shipped today as well. I was 20, so they must have had a big Palit shipment

With all this info coming out about these cards i think we need a lot more transparancy about where we are are what can be expected. 3 weeks now since my estimate and nothing but they obviously know how many is expected so they need to be more forthconing with info. If its on its way then actually tell us. If it has tracking, actually tell us the latest.

Tons of Astrals now on the bay. Absolutely no chance getting 4k for it. Lol

Having been reading this thread for weeks it’s quite baffling to me the amount of people on here that have 3-4 5090’s and haven’t decided on which one they want to keep.

It’s no skin off my nose as I have a pre-built on order but it’s astonishing really just how many people have spent £5-10K up front so that they have a choice.

It probably goes some way towards why lots of people are still struggling to snag one too TBH.
