Long time lurker, but figured I'd share my experience with the queue retailer after being part of the mad rush at 1400 on release day:
Eventually got an order in for an Asus 5090 TUF around 1600. Entered at position #21.
My queue went down to #2 a week and a half ago and had an estimated shipping date of same day, which was then moved by a week the next day. I think their algorithms just assumed that I'd get one next day until things were manually updated with a new estimated shipping date.
A week later on the specified date another drop happened and I now I have my 5090 TUF in hand as of 2 days ago.
Quick summary of the card itself:
Overall very impressed with it. Core clocks sit at 2710mhz happily gaming, with occasional boosts up to 2910mhz, 500mhz above guaranteed boost. Thermals are good sitting in the 70s on air cooling and it's not as loud as my CPU cooling when at full pelt (which only happens when stress testing). Coil whine and sound on par with my old TUF 3080. Total power draw (measured at wall) under heavy gaming load is 700-800W, was worried my 1000w PSU might not be enough given my 14900k and 8 internal drives, but all is good. Had no instability. And yes I have the correct number of ROPS (first thing I checked!).
I've not touched any OC'ing - frankly don't see the need to with good results like this, though have heard MSI Afterburner has some issues with the 5090 when reverting profiles anyway.
Anyway hope this gives some hope back to home folks! Happy gaming all, until the next release cycle!
