Ordered mine :D they will definitely announce a new one this year as seems to be rumoured. But can't see how they can improve upon it for my needs at this point

Regarding cables, above a hdmi 2.1 was mentioned? Is that necessary for this device if I have a 2.0 kicking around? Any benefit?

Also I have a generic Cat5 ethernet cable here, any reason to go cat6? As far as I can tell it's fine for this device?

Thanks!

Damn, Apple TV didn't arrive today for some reason (rain forest!)

Said delayed, hopefully here by March 1st. Weird! Was looking forward to messing with it

Fingers crossed for tomorrow

ATV came today, lovely little device.

Any essential settings or MUST do's to be aware of?

Instantly turned the touch control option off, might be ok after you get used to it but gone click only for now.

It turns the TV on and off with a long press of the power button which is ace so that works well out of the box.

Got the usual apps installed and it's instantly apparent how snappy it is in comparison to the LG offering

I may be miss informed but I noticed I get a little delay (black screen) when switching content/videos on YouTube etc.

I saw mention that a 2.1 cable should do away with this, or a setting I've missed so I've ordered a cable anyway as I can't tell what grade my current one is. Was just some generic one I had kicking around

The only thing that prevents some black screens if is your display supports QMS which as far as I know is still only 3 series and newer LG sets but you would have seen the setting under HDMI settings on the ATV if it was on and supported.

Thanks!

I believe mine supports that so I shall look for the setting

Has anyone else noticed Apple Music doesn't show lyrics anymore on the Apple TV? Lyrics are shown fine on Mac, iPhone and iPad. Seems a weird thing to happen by accident.

Just got one of the 4k Ethernet boxes… other than “TV Launcher”, are there any apps worth having a look at?

Had been using a recent Roku box for AirPlay, but launched it into a bin out of frustration with performance… was out last night trying to buy soup mix (come on Sainsbury’s, stock this stuff) and ended up walking out with the ATV in a tech rage! Seems way better so far at not messing with sound that’s passed to the receiver via eARC than the Shield Pro (everything seems mangled into DD+ on that box), and picture seems comparable… performance is great, which I didn’t expect to be honest. Should have bought one when they came out.
