NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Keep seeing Palits come in, then botted up immediately for relisting at £3000 moments later. If this is the future of PC component shopping, I'm kinda done with it.

Just played a few half-hour sessions in CP77 on my 9070xt and the rational part of my brain says I don't need a 5090 since the 9070xt runs so smoothly at 4k Ultra with RT (and super quiet with zero coil whine on the Nitro+ I got). My lizard brain keeps telling me to keep at looking for one though.

The 9070XT has really suprised me with how potent it is, even compared to a 3090FE. I'm happy enough I don't think I'd take a 5090FE now even if widely available.

I think it's just the inferior cooling and the lots of plastic. I personally, would like a bit of premium and very good cooling for the money I'm spending. But as you say, if you can get it at those prices and are happy with it then you're less stupid than the rest of us

Hmmmm. Currently waiting on a TUF OC that cost £250 more and that’s my absolute limit.

Simply can’t justify another £500+ purely on aesthetics TBH.

And she’s in…

Yes my case is inverted.

Nice and clean, but your AIO isn't going to last with that orientation. :D

Two things seem to be guaranteed with the 5090 FE. Awful coil whine and dangerously high memory temps. Still... It's my pick of the bunch given the £250+ price advantage. An undervolt is absolutely necessary though.
Yeah, that is a potential issue as you can most probably sort the coil whine and GPU temps out. But the high memory temps will remain.

Crazy coil whine?

Not had chance to open/install it yet. Doing benchmarks first, then will switch over.

I already plan to undervolt the card.

After owning the quite frankly amaze a ballz 4090 FE I thought I would get the 5090 FE. Good pricing for what it worth, more manageable size, liked the looks of it. But I was always concerned about a 2 slot card dissipating 600w worth of heat. Liquid metal/Vapor chamber or not you cannot change the basic principles of GPU cooling. And I was always thinking of memory temps would suffer. Just like the old 3090 series where certain cards would cook their mem chips.

As soon as I saw the mem temps it was a deal breaker. Sure you can power limit/undervolt it but I have never liked cards which ran their mem temps a lot higher than the AIB's.

Well… To say I’m impressed is an understatement.

I have a 32 inch 8K Dell monitor as my main screen as my PC focus is productivity rather than gaming.

Aside from the obvious path tracing titles, 8K gaming is now a genuine reality for me. The 5090 doesn’t break a sweat in titles like BG3 at that ridiculous resolution and it’s downright gorgeous.

Glad you are enjoying your new card. Also, get well soon. Haha!
