The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Anyone else having issues with the (I assume) latest versions of the chipset drivers?

It just sticks at 0% won't progress any further. Tells me I'm missing files so I download the drivers from the AMD site and then it gives me an error saying this or a similar one saying there is already an install going (but there isn't) I've tried everything.

I should add, everything seems to be working fine with my CPU etc so I have no idea what's going on.

I ordered the card, then realised I should have measured the space available first!! But, before measuring, I looked at the website to see what was the longest GPU the case would take, and it says 320mm. But I measured it just to be sure and the space is just under 320mm at 318mm. The card is supposed to be 298mm, and as you can see from the photos, there isn't 10mm of a gap between the card and the radiator. And sure enough when I measured the card, it's 309mm long.
Oh right, that's really bad. 1cm might not seem like much but for those with smaller/older cases it could make all the difference.

Glad you managed to make it fit though. Would mounting the radiator in the top have been an option if the card was too long or would the rad be too close to the motherboard heatsinks and stuff?

Is anyone having issues with no display for the BIOS/splash screen?

I can boot into Windows just fine, but until I get to the login screen I get no display signal. I assume I can access the BIOS but there is no display. I had this before years ago with my 1080ti and never got to the bottom of it.

Next time I get a CPU I'm getting one with integrated graphics!
Ah, figured it out - DP cable works fine, just not HDMI.

Might help to update my BIOS to something more recent than 2022.

My Pulse arrived yesterday early enough for me to get it installed on my "dinner" whilst working from home. Very quiet card but I think I'm going to do a fresh W11 install just to clean everything up.

Lovely case & AIO too, is that one of the newer EK models?

I had this and when i checked installed apps i had the latest version installed. It just didn't seem to be able to figure that out.

Seemed like a bug with the chipset drivers being integrated into Adrenalin.

Thank you very much, I need for fork out for another six fans at some point but with them being £30 each I haven't got around to it yet haha!

It's an EK Nucleus CR360 Dark, to be honest it looks lovely but the first one had a faulty pump and this one seems to be underfilled as there it sounds like there is air flowing through the pump at times.

I've got an Arctic Liquid Freezer III and a contact frame to swap out to at some point but it's such a big job to do.

Hmm I only got the Privacy View one but since I don't have a webcam nor a mic I didn't bother with it

Kinda want to sell my 5080 and get a 9070 XT when they are available for like £650 or less

I spent £1250 on my Gigabyte Gaming OC 5080 but I don't really feel like I need or care about that extra performance.

Never sold anything online before so will probably just stick with it.
Don't do it, keep the 5080 :)

I figured it out. The dimensions for the card on the Asrock site are for the actual PCB. But the card comes with a built in bracket, it's not separate and it's the bracket that adds the extra length. It is pretty bad that they don't give this info on their website. If you look at the website for the Powercolor Hellhound, it shows the length of the card and the length of the card + the bracket.

Glad you managed to make it fit though. Would mounting the radiator in the top have been an option if the card was too long or would the rad be too close to the motherboard heatsinks and stuff?

I could have changed it to a top mounted setup, but then I would have needed to get some more fans for the front intake. That would have been more expense and more work then I wanted!! I am very broke and very lazy :p

So I am delighted it fit!!

To paraphrase Napoleon, better to be lucky than good ;)

Had this happen last night while playing RDR2, screen initially hangs and then goes black. Adrenaline recognised it as a driver timeout.
I was running an undervolting so I suspect it's not fully stable

I don't think mine even does that, I've tried leaving it in the frozen state for up to 30 minutes but I don't get any black screens or driver timeouts strangely.

Have you tried any stress tests like OCCT? Is this a new thing since the 9070 install?

I've ran some benchmarks like Time Spy, but not any stress tests as such. I'll give OCCT a go now. I didn't have any issues with my prior GPU so seems to be related to the upgrade.

Did you DDU your previous drivers or use AMD cleanup tool, depending on if you had Nvidia or AMD previously?
That shouldnt be happening at stock or with a negative clock offset. Its not the same as people who have undervolted without proper testing causing their driver timeouts.

When i had similar issues about 4 years ago, with a 3090, it was because of a driver conflict issue. I had a 1080 Ti and just swapped over without fully uninstalling the drivers. It would randomly crash. After doing a DDU, reinstalling the drivers, the problems went away.

I had an RTX2070 previously and ran DDU to remove all GPU drivers prior to installing the 9070XT. I've noticed AMD have recently published a 25.3.2 release, so have installed that and will see if that makes a difference at all.

Gigabyte motherboard by any chance? The last 2 boards I have had has been AM4 Gigabyte boards and once or twice a year I had/have to update the bios firmware. Signs of it is complete instability and overall weird behaviour without the event log going crazy. Just been through it a few days ago where my bios crapped itself out of the blue after a reinstall of win 11 and went from the latest revision(19d) to rev 18 and still ran poorly. A reflash later and everything was honky dory.

It's an ASRock X670E Steel Legend. I tried updating the BIOS early on but unfortunately that didn't seem to help at all.

I've connected the ARGB cable up,run the trixx software disabled the LED. I'll disconnect the cable later then see if it lights up the next time I switch on the PC.

Removed cable , the led is off. It keeps the previous setting.

No need for my pc to look like Xmas lights

I was happy with my 5080 but watching YouTube videos saying 9070 XT is almost as good as a 5080 but for way less made me doubt my purchase.

My card seems to overclock really well and I got a score of 9389 on steel nomad so I think I'll just keep it

I think if you're happy with a card you have and it does what you want you shouldn't worry too much about anything else out there.

Just enjoy! :)

I finally got my Sapphire Pulse 9070 XT yesterday!
As I said in a previous post, my current build is really unbalanced right now cause of my old processor (i7 8700k so still PCIE3.0 but I was able to turn on REBAR).
These are the scores I get, with everything set to stock:
Steel Nomad: 6770
Superposition 4k optimized: 18636
Time Spy: 17 678 (CPU:7270, GPU: 23 617)

The GPU is attached with a twin pcie 8 pin connector since it's the only one in my PSU, a Thermaltake Smart RGB 700W.

Are these scores reasonable? I'm mainly trying to find out if my GPU is working as expected while I wait for the rest of the components to get here, but that won't happen until after the return window sadly.
I noticed the Time Spy is significantly lower than expected but I feel like my CPU is limiting me a lot in that benchmark
