NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

You might wanna prioritise contacting BeQuiet before the situation devolves to you having to contact Asus about a damaged GPU. Lol

Aye I’ve shot them an email via their website form.

I get where you’re coming from but I’m not too worried about a damaged GPU as my old 4090 has been working fine in it for just over two years now (reached out to two posters on Reddit and they say their solution has been working fine ever since).

I’ll report back with what BeQuiet say for future readers/troubleshooters, could be a quirk of the PSU given how many other people have seemingly had the issue.

If the unit allows you to switch from multi rail to single rail, that's a feature. Multi rail is really a thing of the past, nearly all power supplies operate on one single rail. It makes sense that in multi rail config the overcurrent protection would kick in given these cards draw so much power.

Good shout, Google seems to agree with you there - never occurred to me that single rails were becoming/are the standard now - thanks!

Sounds like you are on the right track. Enjoy your new GPU!

You're welcome :)

Yeah, that's a feature that some higher quality units have but it's largely redundant nowadays. It's a nice to have if a user wants to maybe load balance, but single rail has been the standard for quite some time now. Units that are ONLY multi rail tend to be of dubious quality.

Sorry guys been busy installing and playing a few things :) all rops and the suprim is barely hearable and runs quite cool. Havent seen anything over 45 degrees atm with a undervolt +2000mem on and thats with kingdom come 2 at 120fps 1440p.
That is very impressive. Are you doing 900mV and at what frequency? Can we expect photos of this mythical, elusive card?

0.9mv at around 28 or 2900 i think. Il check when im on next and let you know. I do have 2 photos with it next to my old 3080 trio but no clue how to upload it here haha

That is top notch performance temp wise! What a beast of a card. You can use imgur. Upload photo, copy link on Imgur and post link here.

There you go :)
Also included a pic of the temp of me playing around with the new dead rising remaster and being shocked at the coolness of the card.
With a used tea mug as size referance hahaha

Crazy this card actually exists! Lol

Glad you finally got your card mate. Enjoy!

And so another week of watching and hoping begins.

After what we saw last week with bots scooping up stock in milliseconds then reselling for 30% more, I'm not holding my breath.

Did you not get one already? What card are you after?
Nope, I done messed up on my Palit order at that other place and used an old billing adress from my account's saved address book (I haven't bought from that site for a while...) -- rookie mistake, but I was rushed. Then, I had my head down with a deal launch for work and by the time I noticed and reached out they'd already cancelled the order and nothing doing. Nonetheless, I'm still glad I was able to help a few folks here snag one considering it was one of the few RRP listings we've seen. In any case, the experience bolstered my resolve on the following points:
  • I will be getting a 5090. Despite how well my 9070xt performs (...surprisingly well), I know I'll just be looking for a 5090 during this gen's cycle -- and I don't want to have to deal with buying any PC components (any) for as long as possible this round was so distasteful.
  • I will not be paying over RRP for a card. £2000 is already a crazy price to pay, £2500+ for a Palit is offensive. Retailers are betting people will cave to paying exhaustively-inflated prices with the dribble out. This is about principle, and I have more resolve than the 2nd-rate b-school grads who are behind (and behind the times) on this pricing nonsense.
  • I'm looking for a PSU upgrade, so no imminent rush. I was going to run with my old EVGA SuperNova 1000w, but considering it was cutting out with my 6950xt at peaks when overclocking, I'm safer getting a 1200w (100a single rail, at least). I'm looking at a Corsair HX1200 as it seems like a lot of folks are using this model with good reviews

Did some benchmark runs on Saturday on my 3080Ti to compare it with the 5090FE which I eventually got to install yesterday.

First impressions of performance is very good, with all ROPs present :D - Quieter than I expected, but with a little coil whine (expected) when under load, but usually I have a headset on so it doesn't bother me at all.
Still got more synthetic and game benchmarks to do over the coming days and then also undervolt/OC the card too.

Now, it makes sense as I was sure you got one at a reasonable price. Hopefully, you manage to snag another one this week at a decent price. You are in a great position of not being GPU-less at the moment which tends to make people more desperate to bite the bullet at crazy prices.

Super clean build there, nice color matching.

I hope you're using a support bracket with that 5090 installed?

When I first held the card I thought it might need a support bracket as it's a little heavier than the 3080Ti, but once it was slotted in it's held really rigidly and there's no discernible sag. (I will keep an eye on it though.)
If I'd had one of the custom cards, then definitely I would have had a bracket/support in there.
