The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

GPUS upgrades happen once in a few years so its best to do a fresh windows install tbh
These days with Windows 11 24h2 it's very easy and problem free - just do reset of OS with retaining all software and settings. Takes 30 minutes or so, fresh Windows but everything that was installed is still there (aside broken drivers and the likes). Fixes a lot of problems - I've used it few times after breaking mine (experiments :D) and it went flawlessly for me, restoring Windows to perfect shape without me needing to reinstall everything from scratch.

This is good to know, shall file that away for later use!

One thing to remember, though not common these days - some custom registry changes it will usually restore back to default. This is good for fixing things but just in case someone needs some very custom low-level stuff, they would have to do it again after reset.

Cleared the cache on dead space and not seen any further freezing or locking up, so maybe it was that. Now to fix the windows update issues. Don't really want to reinstall windows :p
If you switched from Nvidia even after DDU you may have to clean out the steam shader cache to stop games going funky.

Is that similar with Windows 10 pro, I can't be bothered re-installing everything but may take the leap into 11 soon.

Ah ha. I imagine so. I guess it's anywhere where old bits and bobs are hanging around to cause you a headache.

Glad you've got it back up and running in any case.
Cheers, fingers crossed it's ok now :) only played for five minutes to check, so not certain. Will have a crack at a play through on hard tonight.

It certainly had the odd micro stutter and hitch on my 3070. Nothing that destroyed the gameplay though.
Yeah I played it through about 8 months ago on my 7900 gre. Great remake of a game I played on pc about 10 years prior. Played very well on that card with only a few stutters like you mention but I do remember when it first released and I tried playing on my rx6800 it was sketchy in new areas.

It's definitely a lot faster than my 3070. Maybe nearly double the performance.

Just need to sort out the few teething problems from switching to AMD from Nvidia.
I too upgraded from a 3070 to a 9070 XT. Massive performance uplift. Bought a 4k monitor today, Gigabyte M28U, seems a decent monitor. XT no longer slightly CPU bottlenecked, and have better performance in some cases than at 1440p! AMD nailed this GPU, long may it continue in the future.....

4070 to 9070xt here and it's a big jump especially in titles that like amd like forbidden West.

Hopefully I get mine back soon. Got the new case today and it's about all ready to go.

Anyone having any issues with multi monitor support with RX 9070 XT?

I can drive 2 monitors just fine but it won't detect my third monitor.

I've got the gigabyte 9070 XT gaming OC so 2x DP x HDMI, it's the HDMI that's not working :(

I have three monitors on mine. 2 dp and one hdmi no issues at all

I am having a few boot issues since I upgraded. I'm trying to narrow down the issues. It's not Windows related as getting odd bios boot error codes. I'm not sure if it's related to the bios settings for Smart Memory, USB or something else.
