Screen time in bed

So this is down to increased stimulation caused by whatever we’re interacting with on our phones rather than strictly blue light?

I can understand both of these causing issues. For me, my brain is 100 miles an hour all the time so reading articles or even the forums can help me nod off if I’m struggling to sleep. I’ll just be staring at the ceiling otherwise.

Though as per the article they have correlation rather than causation but like caffeine, etc. the impact is probably hugely different person to person - over many years I've found that using a device with a screen in bed doesn't affect my sleeping but I will tend to use a tablet, etc. more if I can't sleep and personally it has no impact on how long before I can get off to sleep.

EDIT: But then I've always had a disrupted sleeping pattern in respect to light, long before smartphones and tablets, etc.

I heard something like that on SYSK a few years back and basically stopped using the ipad or phone in bed and I actually sleep better and fall asleep quicker.

Controversial but we got rid of the TV as well at the same time and now I wouldn’t have one in the bedroom either.

Sleep is essential and something so simple has made a huge difference.

Yes, I think it’s more likely to encountering something on “triggering” on Twitter or such like rather than the blue light.

I don’t keep any devices in my bedroom these days, I’ve even reverted to an old wind up alarm clock.

A good book and that’s it.

Over the last ~18 months, I've almost completely dropped the habit of browsing on the mobile in bed. It was one of several things advised by the NHS long covid clinic.

Has it improved my sleep? I'm not honestly sure either way.

My better half thinks the lack of mobile use in bed by her and me has improved her sleep.

Having it as a distraction because you can't sleep is obviously affecting sleep quality. Look at me it's 2am and I'm **** posting here ... I've got to be up in 3h ..FFS...
We got a TV in the bedroom too and my Mrs will quite happily watch TV till midnight or later.
We had an early night tonight at 9pm and sat in bed watching garbage love is blind or 90 day fiance.... FML.
I love it really. Lol
No sleep though...
