The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

well this is werid, did a full nuts and bolts tear down and rebuild this morning, one last check before it goes back, and i just played hr cyberpunk for an hr:confused:
maybe there was something doing well something to mess things up, but all seems fine now,, boy im confused as thats 2nd tear down ive done of pc
Cyberpunk-2077-2025-04-02-07-58.png

the only thing that was different was i plugged the gpu psu cables in to 1 and 2 of the psu instead of 1 and 3 but cant see how that made a difference

Did a full reinstall of Windows 11 and so far my crashing and failing to POST after hasn't returned, so could have potentially been some nvidia crap left over (even though DDU was used) conflicting with the card.

New issue now though, performance is now not as good as it was before the Window reinstall. I was getting 230fps+ in black ops 6 with FSR4 etc and now getting 160fps with horrible input lag, every setting is the same as before (I took pictures just in case something like this happened). All settings in Adrenaline are the same too....

My usual experience with AMD sadly hasn't changed, it's never plug in and play, always something broken/faffing required to get it to work properly :(

Installed motherboard chipset/cpu/sata drivers?

Yep. Only thing I forgot to add actually but just realised....

I installed another M.2 1TB drive in the second M.2 slot, though I wouldn't have thought this would cause any issues? Can't see anything in the manual about shared PCIe lanes etc

Board is a MSI B450 Carbon gaming AC

Could try removing the nvme to see.

Would suck if reduces performance, means extra nvme slots are useless if it drags performance down.

It shouldn't do but might be something to try later. Ugh, this is going to be painful, it took all day to download Black Ops 6 (300gb + slow servers) and it's installed on the 2nd nvme

If he is using a B450 wouldnt that be a GEN 4 PCIE motherboard, would the introduction of teh second NVME then cut that from 16 X PCIE 4 to 8 X , maybe causing a bottleneck there?

On the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, the second M.2 slot (M2\_2) for NVMe drives uses PCIe 2.0 x4 lanes, resulting in a slower NVMe speed compared to the first slot (M2\_1) which uses PCIe 3.0 x4.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • M2\_1 (Top Slot):
This slot utilizes PCIe 3.0 x4 lanes directly from the CPU, offering the fastest NVMe speeds.

  • M2\_2 (Bottom Slot):
This slot uses PCIe 2.0 x4 lanes from the B450 chipset, resulting in a reduced NVMe speed compared to the first slot.

  • Impact on GPU:
Populating the second M.2 slot (M2\_2) with an NVMe drive will disable all other PCIe slots except for the CPU-connected main x16 slot for the GPU.

  • Performance:
While the second NVMe drive will still function, its performance will be significantly lower than if it were in the first slot.

  • SATA Ports:
Populating the second M.2 slot will also disable the bottom two SATA ports.

  • Note:
Some users have reported issues with the second M.2 slot not working correctly or not being recognized, so it's important to ensure that the BIOS is properly configured for the NVMe drive to be detected and used.

It should be noted that DDU only applies to drivers, not 3rd party applications.

This, also if Afterburner was installed running NV, in my experience-you need to delete all previous AB settings/config files for it to accurately report data on AMD.

It was a fresh install, I'd only installed the following.

- AMD chipset drivers from the AMD site
- RX 9070 XT drivers from the AMD site
- Corsair icue (to control titan cooler/RX120 case fans)
- Black Ops 6

icue interfaces with the game for controlling the LED's but apart from that I can't see what else will conflict.

I noticed there is a beta driver for the RX 9070 XT up now, though I used the WHQL, same as before.

I am running those drivers and they appear to be good. might be worth trying them
