*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

I've had my text. I plugged in a landline phone that I had at the back of a cupboard and it came through as one of those funny SMS-to-voice things.

11:57 and still no text :(

I feel my order may of messed up even though I’ve an order number and been charged via paypal. But I haven’t got an order number on my account so not sure if I checked out as a guest or something

Edit: just pre ordered the bundle with MK, a carry case, sd card & bloody camera in a panic from very
Of course I did this then got the text 20 mins later

You have to request the invitation on Amazon if you haven't already, I didn't know this until this morning so probably too late now. I imagine these are going to be quite hard to get hold of for a while.
I requested mine around 30 mins after Amazon launched the link. No invite yet.

I was about 10 minutes after and still nothing. Annoying.

I like that they’re doing this to stop touts though, so can live with it.

Yeah retailers will be crying. Nintendo is trying to push sales to its online store so it makes more profit

In general most games sales are already digital, and now they want to put physical in the grave

At least it looks like they are moving towards digital games that use tradeable license keys so you can re-sell your digital games

I imagine Amazon wont release links until they know 100% how many units they've got locked in. There's no rush for them to be early, as they offer free shipping and have a generally easier time with CS. They'll sell out even if they released the links June 1st.

To your last point, let’s hope so, because that’s the dream scenario for me.

@TheVoice not sure if you’ve seen this but Nintendo have now put it out there that their digital prices will be significantly less than physical for their next generation. This is the tipping point, finally?

Ended up pre ordering a bundle from very, you think I would have learned from the ps5 pro to wait a while but this fool and his money are easily parted by new gaming tech.

Switch will get plenty use with the kids mind but only mario kart for a while is a bit of a kick in the teeth.

Price of the console is ok in my opinion, not what's putting me off. There's just no "want" for me, so haven't even tried to get a preorder in.

Will probably pick one up 6 or 12 months after release

When it comes to kids, it's better to have one ordered now rather than trying to secure one closer to christmas. It's going to be much harder to get hold of an NS2 during Q4 than it is to get a 5090 FE right now.

They do seem high but I guess we shouldn’t really be surprised at the prices. I recall when I bought the Switch at launch in 2017 the console was £280 and Zelda BOTW £70.

Given a decade of unusually high inflation it’s no surprise that the new console is £400 and the games £70-80.

Weren't N64 games like £60rrp. If you include inflation, they're cheaper than N64 games.

Yeah, I recall paying £60-70 for N64 games back in the 90s!

Not that I’m trying to make excuses for Nintendo but given that Sony are charging similar money it’s not a surprise unfortunately. Especially as the game cards for switch games are no doubt more costly to produce than Blu-ray Discs.

That's definitely a good point but the chances of me not playing it till then are 0.0000000.
Really hope we get news of a new proper 3d mario in the not too distant future.

I won't be playing mine right away if it needs to be updated online. I'm only buying one at launch to hold out for an exploit before it's patched.
Any of the existing games can be played at much higher settings on the Steam deck already

I will need to get a 2nd one at some point though because Mario Kart and Donkey Kong look awesome!!
