Please help me go the right way about this powerline adaptors

Hi chaps, I need a little advice here please.
So I need a 3 pack powerline adaptor pack which must have ethernet connection, and provide WIFI as well.
The tv in the front room will connect directly to the router, the kitchen tv via the ethernet connection on the powerline adaptor.
Also will have a pc in the garage connected via the ethernet port - and one up stairs for the bedroom tv.
1300 gigabit transfer rate ( where possible ) via the powerlines, and half decent WIFI from each adaptor.
I have been looking but seem to be getting frustrated - any ideas please.

I'd try and run ethernet if you can. The power line speeds vary on too many factors.

You could look into Eero or ubiquiti APs.
 
Powerline adapters have their place (I run three myself) but I agree that a mesh system would be better bet especially for speed. WiFi built into the adapter will be limited by the powerline speed.

I use Mikrotik 1Gbs powerline adapters and get nowhere near that speed but I knew the limitations and am happy with what I get.
 
Agreeing with everyone else, I've never seen powerlines do well with speeds even with a "good" kit, most I've seen was just under 100mb odd with a gigabit set. If pure ethernet is not an option mesh is definitely the next best thing.
 
Any reason why you don’t or can’t go mesh, unless they’ve improved from 10 years ago I found them awful
 
For what it's worth I've been using powerline for a good number of years in my current home.

No issues at all and maxes out my connection.(FTTP)

To echo the above, last time I tired a mesh system it was utter rubbish

You've managed to do several things that really deserve to be clarified, so the op can make an informed choice about much weight to put on your statements. Firstly, FTTP is not a speed, how fast are your adapters using something like iperf3 between two hosts and which specific adapters are you saying work?
 
I'm using Devolo "Magic 2 WiFi 6" powerline adaptors. They mesh well and the data rates I get are very good. According to the adaptors, I'm getting 1150Mbps from my mancave to the living room over the powerlines. A speedtest to fast.com from my ipad on wifi shows 990Mbps. YMMV.

So, you're saying that your kit gets speeds 2-3 times faster than paid reviewers (who have to be nice), or anyone else with the same kit? Literally nobody has posted a benchmark with more than 460Mbit real world throughput that I can find, so your kit must indeed be magic :cry:

What I'm saying is, I get what I get. That's obviously not sitting well with you there, perhaps now is a good time to ponder the decaffeinated brands or go touch grass. Or perhapps understand the variables at play when using powerline gear before pouncing down someones throat.

I like my powerline adaptors, never had any issues though i have not tested the speed, I've never had any reason to. Just make sure the garage is on the same circuit

Oh to be so naive :cry: Please stop quoting full duplex speed estimates from the app and actually test with iperf3, it will give you actual throughput, and when you get the same underwhelming results as everyone else (eg sub 500mbit on a product that claims 2.4Gb but only has gigabit ports and wifi) I promise not to laugh. Honest. After circa 20 years testing each powerline iteration from the three competing standards, I would hope I have a grasp of the variables involved, that’s why I know you’re destined for a large portion of humble pie as soon as you use actual tools for measuring throughput.
 
Performance largely depends on the layout and quality of your internal wiring, so will differ widely between properties. They are variable but have their place, IMO. No, powerlines are not as good as ethernet, but if you're considering them then there is presumably a reason why you can't or don't want to run ethernet - rented properties for example. 500Mbit (or even less) would be fine for many people.
 
When downloading the latest update to Fallout 76 (19.6GB) I get a peak throughput speed of 96.7MB/s in steam when connected via ethernet to the powerline adaptor. When I use my main network, as in not over powerline, I get a peak of 133MB/s when downloading the last Generation Zero patch (25.2GB). During this test the powerline adaptor's Connection status page in its WebUI showed a Receive throughput of 1150 Mbps and a Transmit of 873 Mbps. My house wiring is recent, which is why I said YMMV.

But as this does not reach the "1300 gigabit transfer rate" that the OP asked for then its still not good enough for their needs and since my setup is apparently unicorn grade I doubt that powerline is the answer for them.
