My trusty Acer Predator 27" monitor just died after 9 years of sterling service.

So I'm now looking for a replacement 27" monitor, preferably OLED, Gsync if poss, but I don't want to spend an absolute fortune, probably £800 max.

I'd also prefer a matt screen.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

How did it die?

I also have an acer predator about the same age.

Maybe its for the best, monitors have come a long way I think!

Was watching a show on Disney+ and half way through the monitor went instantly black. No noise, no visual glitches, just black.

I rebooted and it was still black. My immediate concern was my 4090 had gone kaput!

Then I realised that even pressing the menu buttons didn't show anything.

Luckily I have a spare 1080p monitor, so I plugged it in and got a picture. Phew! Only £600 out of pocket and not two grand.

I was thinking of upgrading anyway as it did have a small scratch on it, and was 9 years old.

There’s actually a batch of 4K 27” OLED monitors about to hit the market (with a new Samsung qd-OLED panel iirc) in the next month or two which are likely to be in a similar price range £800-1000.

Depending on your requirements and needs might be worth considering as they should be a noticeable step up from the current 1440p models.

Thanks! Not sure I can stand the temp 1080p screen for a month

I just picked up the AW2725DF for around £500. QDOLED Gen 3 panel 360hz, highly recommend.

As someone mentioned though, they’ve gone back up to full price, still within your budget though.

Dell have sales on fairly regularly so keep an eye out if you’re interested in this monitor.

The AW2725DF looks great, but it's glossy. Just holding up my phone's glossy screen where my monitor is I'm getting loads of reflections.:(

Looks amazing... apart from really bad variable refresh rate flicker.
Yes RTINGS mention that but goes on to mentions the Alienware AW2725DF in The review which also states noticeable vrr flicker .

Got it this afternoon.

Initial impressions:
Amazing colours, even out of the box, even without HDR turned on.
Matt screen is great! No reflections and I can't see any obvious diffuser grain.
It's a little bit smaller than my old Acer but that's fine, and the text is a bit smaller due to that (Weird as they're both 27" allegedly).
Had to adjust the cleartype in windows a bit to get the text clarity up, as the OLED pixel layout makes it look a bit fringy on default settings. Looks fine now, though of course it's not quite as clear as the Acer's old IPS panel.
Love the little remote you get. Way better than fiddling with the panel buttons.
Variable refresh rate seems really smooth. Not seen any flicker yet.
The stand is really wide, would have preferred it being a bit more compact, but at least it's thin.

Seems like it was a good reccomendation so far, thanks!

After a few days I must admit the text clarity does get on my nerves occasionally - its only on certain text where it's obvious. I'll play with the cleartype settings again. I might have been a bit too aggressive in avoiding colour fringing which means the text is a little thin and jagged in places.

Other than that I'm very happy for general browsing, gaming and media watching, which is the primary use case.

Super happy with the matt finish too.

Further feedback - after playing around with the ClearType settings I've got the text to a suitable clarity (or I've just got used to it lol).

I'm finding the remote super useful, really all monitors should have one. I hate the clumsiness of standard monitor controls. The remote is very handy for turning off the screen when playing PCVR to help prevent burn in.

I'm still amazed at the amazing colour range and how silky smooth the response and refresh is.

Hmm, thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it as I'm considering the move to a 1440p OLED monitor but had concerns over text clarity and vrr flicker. This one was one I was considering.
