NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Coil whine is the worst. I bought my 4090FE knowing I was going in with a limited power headroom using an EVGA 750w PSU. What I didn't expect was screaming coil whine that finally went away once I had replaced that with my current ASUS 1000w unit
That means it was the PSU that had the coil whine not the card then though. The 4090 probably pushed the PSU to a level where it triggered it.

Whine can reduce over time. My Palit had a fair bit when it arrived. After thrashing it hard for a few weeks, that's actually reduced a lot. It's only audible on the Doom Eternal menu now, and not very loud there. Doom Eternal does seem to be a good coil whine stress test. Dunno why.

In other news, I finally put an undervolt on my 5090, having procrastinated about it for a few weeks. The latest melting connector case was the tipping point.

Not one iota of coil whine on my 5090 Solid OC, and my ears are ultra sensitive to it. My last 4 cards (4090, 4080, 7900xtx, 6950) have had it, so I was fully prepared to deal with the noise again with this card -- pleasant surprise indeed. I'm running an Asus Thor 1200w currently, but I never found changing my PSU had any impact.

5090 Astral landed at you know where for one UK redditor after just over two months. Hopefully he didn't pay too far north of the usual Asus ROG tax.

Missed the DPD guy yesterday, my fault, was buying coffee, but today he stopped 20M away from me on a different street perpendicular to mine, again 100M away from me on the same street (I thought he was following a route and would circle back) and then he took a ultra wide angle from 100M (you could still see my building) and "Sorry we missed you". Glad I paid Saturday delivery /s Should have just went after him the moment I saw him stop the first time, yeah, I know, why trust people to do their jobs?
Any way to leave a complaint through ocuk? I know the chat I had on the DPD app will do nothing, maybe a delivery partner matters more.
I don't want to accept lies from couriers (in the last year, Evri does it at a 50% rate when they can't be bothered, DHL did it once, didn't expect DPD to do the same - always spot on service)

Anyway, just venting, since there is no 5070 Ti venting in my case right now... ba dum tss.

Everyone please be careful of Aorus Master 5090s coming from the Rainforest. Arrived with packaging completely mangled. Item has definitely been opened and repackaged. The even put a label over the serial number. Customer Service is a joke.

Getting sent back promptly.
Jeez. Sorry to hear that. Some may call this madness, but I always film myself opening expensive tech, be it a new phone, tablet or PC component. I have heard too many horror stories to chance it.

Oh I have a story when collecting my 16 Pro Max from DPD. Was fun at least.

DPD are definiitely getting worse, had this a few times recently. Just driving up to outside the house then immediately driving off again. Going from one of the most reliable to making me think twice about using

They simply returned my 5090 to OCUK once it got to their depot without even delivering - no rhyme or reason why. Took a week to have it shipped back to me. My theory is they had a driver call off and they just shipped a bunch of parcels back.

The absolute topper was last month when I'd ordered a 9070xt from another reseller. Apparently, cards got to DPD, then a whole shipment was stolen off a van.

Not a bad precaution to be honest. First, the package was one stop away for over 2 hrs. When it arrived, it wasn't in a Rainforest branded van. It also didn't have the Rainforest tape over it. It was just regular sellotape.

I am 10000% sure the item was opened, then repackaged as you can clearly see remnants of the original packaging (see photo).

The serial number is partially obscured by a meaningless label (won't bother redacting) and the serial number on the PCIe connector has definitely been reapplied. Imagine spending almost £2800 for this BS.

Yep, that looks sus. At best, it is a returned item. At worst, best not thinking about it.... You are 100% correct to return it. I would do the same.

Yeah. It is at the very least a returned item that they are trying to shift for full price. Customer Service refused an exchange and pretty much hung up.

Return (pick up) already arranged for tomorrow. Even if this was the very last 5090 on the planet, I would never accept it, especially for full price.
