Grab a bargain: Britain's cheapest fixed tariff

Clipboard-04-08-2025-02.jpg

I fail to see this "bargain"

Electricity

  • Unit rate:22.64 p/kWh
  • Standing charge:43.76 p/day

Gas

  • Unit rate:5.78 p/kWh
  • Standing charge:30.99

Exit fee makes it pretty poor if you ask me.

Eon have just updated their next drive from 6 to 7 tariff, same off peak cost but with cheaper standing charge per day from 64p to 45p (region dependant) this will save just under £6 per month but the peak costs increase for me from 24p to 28p, similar to Octopus and others.

yep, just hopped onto this from my v6
will save me ~£30/yr (basically the 10p standing charge/day)

dual fuel bill estimates = £701/yr with the new v7

Octopus offered me 2 new tariffs. Intelligent Go Fixed and Intelligent Drive. Seems the drive one is good on the surface but really not great as it means you can't get the cheaper rates for the whole house while smart charging.

OLD
00:30 - 05:30 Price (p/kWh, inc. VAT)8.5p/kWh
05:30 - 00:30 Price (p/kWh, inc. VAT)29.37p/kWh
Dynamic unit rate
46.98p/day

UPDATE - New OCTOPUS GO fixed has launched

Today we’re introducing a brand new way to charge your EV for less: Octopus Go Fixed.

Thanks to a wholesale price dip you can now lock in your Octopus Go prices for the next 12 months and get a cheaper day rate than you’re currently paying. <- But it doesn't say what the day rate is

Naturally, you’ll also enjoy 5 hours of 8.5p/kWh electricity for your home and charging every night. Should you decide to leave early, there’s a £25 early exit fee.

EDIT : Found it buried on the website

Night rate (00:30 - 05:30)
8.5p / kWh

Day rate (05:30 - 00:30)
28.27p / kWh

Standing charge
46.98p / day

It's only like 1p difference hmmmm
