NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Unusual to see a still in stock 5090.

Give me the TUF gaming already.

Seen a few remain in stock for a while today, or at least they could be added to basket. Hard to tell which one's are genuinely still in stock and which one's are gone but showing in stock due to poor website updating...

I think @Varys mentioned his Astral was quiet so I’m thinking it’s just a lottery… higher chance of it being a dud, I know.

Yes maybe I'm lucky, but there's quite a few on here who have Astrals and I haven't seen any complaining of excessive noise or coil whine. Then again, maybe Debauer was unlucky with the sample he received for review. Ultimately, if you undervolt any of these cards, the power usage is cut substantially, the cards run cooler and therefore quieter.

Is the asus tax worth it over the likes of a palit or zotac.

Only ever had asus and gigabyte.

But 13 to 1500 for a 5080 is ridiculous.

Cheers

Categorically, no. I've owned literally every brand of AIB, nV and AMD, over the past 25-30 years (except maybe Yeston, although I've installed one for my niece). Even if Astrals and Suprims were selling at £2700, they're not worth ~£500 more than a base-level Zotac, Palit, Gainward, or PNY. No way. And from a service and repair standpoint, Asus and Gigabyte are often worse. For the most part, you're spending that extra money for brand and perhaps a marginally slicker design.

I agree with this, except for the last bit their designs are way nicer, just not at a 20-30% premium. If I had to settle for an ‘ugly’ card and my case allowed, I would just waterblock it.

@Gibbo Any drops planned for this week?

We see almost daily drops now, some sell out fast (normally due to small quantity arrived) and some sit around (normally due to a few hundred arriving).

5090's more expected this week.
5080's lots more expect this week and next.
5070Ti more next week most likely
5070 lots in stock now from £539 and more incoming.

Fair enough, it’s hard to find the RRP for all these cards.

What’s wrong with the windforce if you don’t mind me asking, the cooling and noise levels seemed pretty good

I haven't seen the Windforce 5090, but the few accounts I've seen are the cooler is quite skimpy and shroud very bare and plasic-y. This tracks with my prior experience with Windforce. They're OEM-level cards.
