NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

You must try cyberpunk on it. Incredible game.

I am playing with max settings and path tracing and am getting 70fps without any frame generation on my 5090

I’m just holding out for it being on sale again, which it seems to be a lot these days. I’ve only ever done a blade build, so can try something different :)

Heh, I wonder during which hours I was gaming.

Loving the 5090 though. Cool, quiet, powerful. It’s been a long time since I’ve owned the top GPU available.

I need to try Indiana jones next with path tracing. Also curious to check out Cyberpunk since I last played that on PS5.
Indiana Jones also chugs through power. Here’s mine from an evening gaming. Not hard to tell when 5090 was in thermonuclear mode :D

I am definitely concerned about heat produced, and i havent even bought a 5090 yet. My 4090 already heats my room up to uncomfortable levels from May to September time, even when significantly power limited.
First thing i noticed was the extra heat the 5090 kicks out compared to my 4090, my CPU temps did go up also so it is something to think about especially during summer. I am going to try undervolting my 5090 at some point but for now just letting it settle in.

It definitely heats up the room unlike anything I’ve used before. That said, the cooler seriously impresses me to keep the card as cool as it does and while doing so quietly.

No retailer had the 9800X3D at MSRP (£450) for several months. Only within the last month or two has it hit MSRP. Pretty insane for a CPU to be scalped by every single retailer.

In fairness they are not scalping the pound going over 1.30 has permitted it and even then it’s a loss leader for us as we have 3-4% margin on it and as company cost 5-6% to run it actually cost us at MSRP but it’s a basket opener and OcUK is proud that we were one of only resellers to launch at MSRP and also the first to be back at MSRP which was done around three weeks ago. Also proud we have never run out as I try to hold a minimum of 3000 units in stock.

Thanks for the response, Gibbo. It seems AMD is getting bolder with their so-called MSRPs. First the 9800X3D and now the 9070 series. One to keep an eye on for us consumers.

True.
We don't mind selling CPU's as loss leaders so much as if we hit our target AMD give us rebates and of course CPU's have very low to none existent RMA rates, so were literally just shifting a box with very little risk to ourselves and they open the door hopefully to other items like cases, coolers, power supplies, memory and motherboards etc.

GPU's are much more difficult to run as loss leaders as logistically they take more work, RMA rates are far higher and of course B-grade is insane on GPU's where we lose money.

At least with 9800X3D we launched at MSRP and we were first back at MSRP. :)

Seems like a fair few 5090s are dropping all over the place. Managed to get what I needed.

I wouldn’t have minded buying from OC, but our company tech scheme doesn’t give us a choice - so had to buy from one particular retailer. Still, at only £799 it seems like a bargain! (Yes, I am paying the rest, but monthly out of salary, so don’t feel it - not a bad scheme, over the last few years it paid for various ‘goodies’ for the wife - this year, it’s all mine)! :D

Hi there

Some bad news for our USA customers, we announced enabling Global deliveries a few days ago, but unfortunately our couriers are now stopping any USA shipments due to tariff implications, apologies.

So USA shipping will be disabled today, apologies.

Managed to snag a Vanguard 5090 from a big high street electronics retailer with notoriously bad customer service. Vanguards are OK arent they?
Dunno… I just couldn’t bring myself to spend the extra £300 over the Palit for a bit of RGB. Was hoping for an ASUS TUF, as that’s what my 4090 is, but ASUS seem to be MIA at that level.

Yeah, I mean it has got some cheesey RGB going on - but they all seem to have that. Ah well - happy to be able to unbookmark the notification page now.
