NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

I’m not immediately sure. They’re all pretty big… looks like it.

I would say that the Suprim seemed to have the best / quietest fans of the set at low-ish speeds, for what it’s worth, with a very slight whistle at higher speeds.

The Aorus does have this weird ‘fan wind down’ sound, as people have mentioned but it’s not a biggy. I’d say Aorus fans look a degree wobblier but this has zero impact on function as far as I can see.

Astral has the four fans so can sound loud, but this is easily managed via software. It feels the most premium: ‘well polished’ and ‘opulent’.

Out of all of them (assuming they worked  ) I’d pick the Aorus… I love how chonky it is and the support is just brilliant, puts the others to shame!

Thanks for the summary, appreciate it!

The Aorus Master, Astral and Suprim are pretty much the same size, give or take half a cm here and there.
  • Astral: 358 x 149 x 76 / 3042 g
  • Suprim: 359 x 150 x 76 / 2840 g
  • Aorus Master: 360 x 150 x 75 / 3100 g
Edit: updated with dimensions.

The master thankfully isn’t that heavy and “only” weights 1750g.

It’s certainly much lighter than my 4090 Suprim x

Apparently my Palit card from the ‘chip sauce’ store is waiting for me at home.

As I’d promised my lad my 4090 to go in his system, I ordered a Lian Li A3 case with wooden front from OC yesterday, to replace his Nr200. It was (and still is) showing PreOrder, which is fine, as I’m in no rush - however, it too has already arrived!

Not sure if @Gibbo, or some other OC chap might like to update the status of their cases stock?

I suspect you are right. I remember when people were saying AIB 5090 would be around 2.5k - 3.5k and people dismissed and laughed at them. Guess whose laughing now !

And then remember when nV announced sub-$2000 MSRP, many of us warned it was a trap and street price would still be £2500 for most... And then people we surprised Pikachu.

I havent had luck getting a FE and was thinking of going with AIB but 1100 more than a FE I could buy are car with the difference whats happened with GPU's am I missing something?

There have been two 5090 FE restocks since launch, each which have been tiny. The last one was the 13th March I believe. It effectively doesn’t exist, so the cheapest 5090s are the £2150-2250 Palit Gamerocks.

Has the astral always been 3k am I mistaken for thinking it was like 2800 when it released?

I think it has been in the 2600's on a few brief occasions but most retailers keep stocking it at 3k. The LC was also under 3k once last week.

3 in the UK according to one of the stock checkers - last on 21st Mar. Was one on Thursday in Europe so maybe will be one tomorrow in UK :p

Thanks. Perhaps I missed that one. Either way, there have been probably 10x less 5090 FE drops vs 4090 FE drops, and multiple times more than that stock difference. IIRC, the 4090 FE was restocked every 2 weeks or so, and after 2 months was available in the shop for hours at a time (That's how i got mine without a notification). There is no point waiting for the FE if you want a 5090 imo.

So here's what I'm currently planning (but a little unsure).
I'm not really using my gaming PC that much due to life circumstances (young family). Hoping this will improve in 6 months or so.

So for now instead of sitting on my 4090 I'm going to sell it to the trade in place for basically what I paid 8 months ago (it's like £100 less).
Then I'm going to use my old 1070 for a while until family life calms down and then I'll grab a 5090.

I'm just hoping the 5090 prices don't start ramping up again.

In your situation and given how terrible this launch has been so far, unless you have a specific reason for needing a 5090, I wouldn't bother.

Assuming you get 1200-1300 trade in, you are still going to need the best part of a grand to buy a cheaper model 5090. Unless prices really start to come down, may be better waiting unless you really need it, like heatonpkmassive says.
