Porsche Taycans...

I run an Emira, an RS4 and a C7 A6 3l...so I know the other costs - they're not really a consideration for me.

I will have a think, but I don't really want to get rid of the A6, which is what this would potentially replace...

I'd also not pay monthly for a car, I just buy them outright...
Fair enough! Just throwing it out there as so many people seem to think they can make the jump from running a generic hatch back to at Taycan just because they depreciate like a stone and don't guzzle petrol at an alarming rate. You obviously know the wider picture from your other cars.

Most misleading username on the forum BTW

imo good deal and I will be tracking the Macan prices over the next 4-5 years.

Of course they will continue to depreciate which is a good thing if you wait longer before purchase and get an even better deal!

But as others have said everything is expensive; tyres (I think the range would be £600 to £1500), servicing, insurance (x2/x3 the price compared to a non-Porsche?) etc. In a way the electric is the least costly part :)

I don't think we need to worry about batteries, The Daily Mail have that covered.

Maybe if there is an expensive service cost coming up make sure any future car has had it done.

I think with EV servicing some are small checks and cheaper and some are bigger. eg Kona 3 year / 30000 miles is ~£85, 4 year / 40000 miles is a big one with coolant replacement and is ~£575. so apply the Porsche multiplier to those costs.

On the one hand they do seem great value now, but they also seem to be one of the most unreliable EVs and indeed Porsche you can find. Lots and lots of recalls on them and random battery deaths, I wouldn't want one out of warranty so there's a brick wall coming up for values and scary repair costs in a few years on early cars. Can't really compare them to Model S for example at 8+ years old that do hold up value wise well but that's because they're so reliable.

If it's a short term car 2-3 years, say 2022/2023 car sure as you're getting out of it with lots of warranty remaining so easy sell. Probably the estates at 55k a safer bet than a 40k saloon IMO.

Fact check boop.

Reason for recall
A short circuit within the battery modules during the vehicle’s service life cannot be ruled out under certain circumstances which could lead to thermal events and later to a fire in the vehicle.

How to check if the vehicle is recalled
Contact the local PORSCHE dealership or manufacturer. You will not need to pay for anything involving the recall.

How the manufacturer will repair
On the affected vehicles the battery modules must be replaced and the on-board diagnostic software (BMCe control unit) will be installed.

Number of affected vehicles
5097

I look forward to my future Macan ;)

Last time i I looked there were approx 600 for sale- big increase!
Problem with buying even a £40k 2nd hand one is what will you do in 2/3 years time when you want to get rid of it? Private sale is as good as impossible for a car like this. I bet trade in offers, if you can even get one, will be sub £20k.

The cross turismo in an interesting colour like metallic green is a cool car IMO.

And your headlights may turn into lamps for weed growers

Maybe that what bumps up the service costs, "your lights don't work mate because they've been nicked" . I've seen that pic before and id imagine its a bit worrying/annoying for owners.

It’s a Porsche with Porsche running costs. There is a reason they depreciate so quickly and the service is a wash and hand it back pretty much. How someone does a set of ceramics in 2 years on road is beyond me too.

Yea I work opposite a large Porsche main dealer and the forecourt is absolutely swamped with used with Taycans.

They recently extended it and now that new land is full of them too lol. They will drop a lot more yet as they still aren't selling at 40k.

Taycan's hardly touch their breaks due to the incredibly good regen, and I'd be highly suspect of anyone claiming to have changed their brakes on a car that wasn't a pure track based. The wear level is so low on them normally, people have been seeing 5% wear after 30k+ miles on the pads. Must be a killer for servicing/maintenance losses as brakes are a staple of this, and massive margins on them.

Yea I have just sold a car with Ceramics and 30K miles done one them which were less than half done and that was used properly without any regen. As said something else going on if they are gone in 2 years and low miles, which is why Porsche are being difficult I suggest.

I know you do not drive while flicking the tappety flimsy plastic fitted around that great looking centre consul or those flimsy plastic stalks around the steering column, but once you do...

No wonder they're struggling to shift them if Porsche still charge those kind of service prices for an EV, when EV servicing is known to be cheaper due to less serviceable parts. Madness.

I get prestigious brands build their brands in order to increase prices, but surely there has to be a limit?
