Path of Exile 2

Been playing LE for the last 2 days, more enjoyable aRPG with great progression.
I'm playing both at the moment, alternating back and forth between them, I find that I'm enjoying both of them for different reasons. Last Epoch I find very easy, so when I want to feed my powerfantasy mode I play that one but for me at least its not an either/or thing, I play and enjoy both :)

LE is awful, I'm sorry. There's no weight to the game at all, no risk, nothing feels satisfying. Everything is a cakewalk. Definitely regret buying it. It did however make me appreciate PoE2 much more.

I feel the opposite. LE campaign is easy, but difficulty can ramp up in monoliths ( the endgame ). Of course, a lot of the people moaning about the lack of challenge are using a "meta" build from Maxroll or such like. So what do they expect ? LE is one of those games where you're best not looking up maximal builds ... just experiment yourself, the game doesn't punish you for respeccing and many skills/combos are viable.

POE2 on the other hand. Oh boy, where do I begin ? Only positive thing I can say about it is the graphics and audio are excellent. But the core systems are terrible ie. loot, crafting, combat. Which are the fundamental pillars of a good ARPG.

There's so much friction in POE2 it's ridiculous, everything is a chore, what a mess.

Been trying the Huntress lightning build, but screwed up my spec, and now out of gold to respect correctly and currently getting my butt kicked. I think I might need to restart the character, rather than continue on as it's painful :D

I created a new character and playing as a Witch Lich, combo. I've found a build which is just letting me cruise through maps, so much faster than my ranger build!

LE is easy, every build i've done steam rolled through till you hit empowered monoliths. the difficulty needs to ramp harder earlier.
main gripe for me is it still feels too floaty. but guess that won't ever be fixed now.

Agree, I blasted this for about 30 hours over the weekend to make sure it wasn’t just my initial impression.

But I felt absolutely nothing when playing.

Watched a few videos over the weekend and I feel like I would have the same feeling towards it tbh. Still can't put POE2 down, especially now the big update bugs/issues seemed to have been ironed out.

Tried Huntress out until about level 40 but missed the warrior & a big hammer too much, so started again I'm near the endgame now (act 3 cruel)

Liking the smith of kitava, already got 86/87/87 on resistances at like level 62 (only 4 ascendancy points too) :D

there's a setting which helps to reduce the float but it won't feel as rigid as poe 2

man making an arpg in the current market must be so tough. Half the player base want a challenge from level 1, half want a breeze in to maps and campaign skips. Some want weight to all actions and penalties to messing up, some want flexibility to experiment and not be punished. etc etc

I'm done with PoE2 for the time being, will reinstall it somewhen down the road. Not sure whats going on with the game but I had no issues with it (over 400 hours on it) up until about 1 month ago, since then I've been getting random disconnects every play session. Not crashes but just randomly get disconnected from the game and let me tell you, when you play only hardcore, repeatedly getting randomly disconnected is not at all a good thing. Why this only started occurring within the last month I dont know but I've a number of games on the go and these disconnects when playing HC just mean that unfortunately PoE2 is one of the titles which has to be dropped from my playlist until further notice. Hopefully they can find out whats causing them, I did hear rumours that they've been suffering a lot of DDOS attacks lately, again no idea why those would only start in the last few weeks rather than from release.

I never experienced any disconnects with the latest update, but from looking at Steam reviews you're not alone. I'm sure they'll fix that soon. There were similar issues at launch.

Anyone still playing this? I thought I would try playing again after many months of being away and it's completely unplayable. Constant "game paused" messages followed by disconnects. I am at a stage where I get into the game and within 5 seconds it disconnects. Tried all the fixes available on the net and none work. I don't think it's an issue on my machine or network as all other online games work fine for me. Really dissapointing.

Servers been an issue due to ddos attacks and such especially on the eu side with poe.
I also think the changes to pause fucntion may have caused unforseen effects.

I suspect the same be true for poe2

You're not alone - it's a mess on the technical side and game concept/vision side of things. Lots of downvotes on Steam for both aspects. I ended up uninstalling it and don't plan to return until a major update.

What's the bet they cancel POE2 and go back to releasing updates for POE1 instead
Highly unlikely, but they're in a very precarious position now and have probably realised how much of a silly idea it was to split the team between two different, ongoing projects.

POE 1 is arguably the best ARPG on the market, POE 2 is decent, but very muddled, already conflicted with what it wants to be and at least a couple of years away from being near the same level. They kind of need all hands on deck for development to even make progress at a good rate before this dies or the competition jumps ahead and steals their space, but that will also have a big impact on POE 1. Looking back it feels like they needed to make this tough decision a couple of years back but took what seemed the easy crowd pleasing option, which has come back to bite them.

Some of the technical stuff is baffling though, things like defences being so broken, or minion AI being so terrible when they were pretty solid in POE1, I just don't get how some of the stuff has gone so wrong.

They had/have the best ARPG on the market, they should have recognised that and valued it, and brought POE1 up to date. Someone earlier mentioned the difficulty of pleasing everyone, and exactly what they shouldn't be trying to do, you can't capture the entire genre audience and also broaden the player base exponentially which I'm sure was the goal with POE2. There are loads of examples of studios diluting their own product away from it's core fanbase to appeal to a broader spectrum and it almost always ends up in failure, and with an alientated core audience, this is true in TV and movies too.

They could just have modernised POE1, graphically etc, and then had themselves the best ARPG on the market, only better, within a modernised framework set for the next decade, so POE2 not POE2 a different game, alongside POE1.

Diablo dads are gonna Diablo, people who want a simple experience are going to play LE.

Although I don't see anyone coming in to take their crown, POE1 is a bit like WOW it's so entrenched with so much content that it's nigh on impossible for a new entrant to steal the crown.
