The First Berserker: Khazan

yea loving this too.. combat is so fluid killed viper after few tries yesterday he's not to bad once u learn his moves and only attack after his combos also the counterattack ability is OP once u learn the timing!

Maluca was a toughie but got past him in the end, seems he isnt terribly fond of poison :)
Not gonna lie, I thought this dude and turning into Chaos was going to be the thing that made me give up and sell the game, but I'm finally making progress with Chaos form now.
Stopped being scared of the speed of attacks and actually learning it :D

Damn this Maluca is frustrating.
I've gone from "OMG how on earth is this even possible" to "I know and can see and have counters for all of your moves" but I still manage to fluff it up when I'm a few hits away from winning :(

To be honest, at this stage, I might even be done with the game.
I'll beat the guy, likely later today, but I think all the enjoyment I had is gone :(
I dunno... maybe I need a break and recharge !!

A break and recharge is always good, constantly applying poison on my weapons and throwing poison at Maluca helped immensely for me with Maluca.

In other news, I finally completed this last night, the 3 phase final boss was a bit of a shock to the system as I wasnt expecting a 3rd phase but oddly enough his last phase was pretty easy. Overall I really enjoyed the game, for their first attempt at a souls like it was pretty good, interested to see where they go with it.

Oh and as a tip, be sure to buy the lantern which reveals hidden secret "illusion" walls there are SO many false walls in the game with goodies behind

I don't know what it is but the Bringkus fight is REALLY ****** me off !!!
I've had my butt handed to me by plenty of bosses, but this guy has been making be genuinely rage, actually tight chested anger, from like my 3rd loss.
What the hell !!

Got this a couple of days ago and really enjoying it. After beating Elden Ring, its DLC and Sekiro I thought I'd be ok but boy am I struggling. Currently trying to beat Blade Phantom and first phase is ok but I'm getting wrecked in the second phase. Earning lacrima after losing a boss fight is a nice touch that might come in handy.

Guys, I am truly awful at Soulslikes.
Not joking. I'm dreadful.
But if I can learn and struggle though (about 50% of the way if the PlayStation activity card is to be believed) then literally anyone can :D

Once I learned to stop running in 'all guns blazing' and learn boss attack patterns and know when I would need to take a breath and keep some stamina in reserve for dodges and blocks, things got a bit easier for me and I stopped getting wrecked as much.

im going to try the demo for this, im pretty bad at souls like though, what would be a good starter game, the timing of combos etc just usually frustrates me and i play something else

Yeah, try the demo, that's what got me (a soulslike idiot) to think that there was just enough arcadey feel for me to give it a shot and actually stand a chance :)

Also I liked Stellar Blade.
I felt that was a perfect split of Soulslike gameplay but with some arcadey fun and forgiveness.
(Yes it's an actual great game even looking beyond the aesthetics ;)
Unsure if there's a demo

Well, I'm done with it.
Deleted it off my PS5 and even erased my save file to prevent myself from going back for more punishment.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it, as far as I got.
Had some real satisfaction beating some of those bosses.

But after failing for probably the 50th time to beat Ballerina or whatever she was called (Witch with all the elemental attacks and ghosts) I decided that the game had just beaten all the enjoyment out of me. I was no longer enjoying my free time and playing and I was just blank eyed staring at the screen getting worse and worse as I lost interest in it.

Would I recommend it for people who like Souls games?
Absolutely :)
But at the end of the day, I reached my skill and patience limit and it's time to move on !!

Looks like you got pretty far though and fair play on that decision if you're no longer enjoying it. I'm now on Viper, was like yessss I did it. Should have seen my face when the second phase started
I feel like I'm going to spend many many hours trying to beat this game - only game that has challenged me this hard has been Sekiro and this might turn out to be even more difficult. I was going to try and make it through without using any summons to get the trophy/achievement but noting I'm already struggling I feel like I'm going to have to miss out on that one. Determined not to drop the difficulty though as it appears you can't change it back.

But yeah, this game is no joke whatsoever. Although, I am having lots of fun with it.

I believe that they changed that in a patch so now you can drop to easy and then put the difficulty back up
Ooo, that's good to know but I'm going to stick with normal and only breakout easy in an emergency :D

Used the summon and beat Viper first try with two potions left, what a difference as I was barely making it into the second phased without the summon.

For anyone struggling, the walkthroughs by FightinCowboy on Youtube are excellent for souls games as he ensures you don't miss anything worthwhile. He's done one for The First Berseker here:

EDIT: Also just realised you can upgrade you summons pretty easily so there should always be a way of getting through everything with a little bit of farming.

Just beat Hismar - two main bosses to go. I'm finding the difficulty is quite varied with this game. Some bosses are incredibly difficult whilst others are not too bad at all. I see they've messed around with the difficulty and introduced a new "Beginner" difficulty which imo is way too easy for a souls game but I guess it gives people the option of flicking between difficulties if they are really struggling to beat a particular boss but personally I think the previous "easy" setting should have been enough for anyone with a bit of perserverance. However, I heard this game failed to hit sales targets so I assume it's a way of getting more people to dip their toes into the water...

The previous "Easy" difficulty has been renamed to "Normal," and "Normal" has become the default setting when starting a new game. The previous "Normal" difficulty has been renamed to "Challenge."

They've also added "Hardcore", which is a special difficulty that unlocks after completing the first playthrough on "Challenge." - Screw that, I'm having to flick between Challenge and Normal to get through this game.
