Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Yeh, i'm having too much of a blast with Oblivion to get this at the moment, will wait for a sale.

Same here. Looks like a lot of fun. But then so is many others games I have already got that i need to complete.

By the time I do this will be £20 or less.

Started God of War Ragnarok now that I completed KCD2 :D

Not managed to play this yet but what are you all talking about dodges etc, isn't it turn based?

Yes but there are QTE for dodging/parrying (and attacking but you can disable those). IF you zone out during combat you'll get the full brunt of attacks.

Ok that'll definitely be turned off for me then, I really don't like most games with dodge / parry / block mechanics.

You can turn them off only for attacking to get the best damage outcomes, you still have to do the defensive dodge/parry/jumps.

Amazing graphics and nice music, but it's very slow. Doubt it will hold my interest. Turn based QTE not doing it for me. Will give it another hour.

Im loving this. Character design is on point, the music sounds gorgeous and is set well to the atmosphere. its enchanting. lets see if it holds my interest more than every other game I've tried to pick up recently.

The contrast between the relatively serene opening sequences and then the devastation that the expedition face upon disembarking for their adventure was superbly executed. I was not prepared and it really blew me away

As @Noxia says, you can only disable attack QTE's not defensive ones eg. dodging, parrying or jumping. And the defensive ones are most important by far. In the early game I've already encountered at least 2 monsters which will kill you in one hit if you mess up timings. The QTE's are going to be divisive, I feel, and will put a lot of players off who were "on the fence" about the game. I can see the developers perhaps responding by patching in an option for defensive QTE's to be automated too.

Oh wow. I just got to the flying waters. Holy, Stunning locale. (Not a spoiler very early in the game)

oh and the music changes with the biome!

I wasn't sure about the QTE combat early on but I got a few hours in and I'm glad I stuck with it. There have been comparisons to Sekiro with the timed dodging and parries and I can see it when you're firing on all cylinders in a boss battle. Oblivion can take a break for a week.

What is the last game played and completed without getting bored? :p

Blue prince. Helps that it's quite short, there's no chance I'll be able to do the extra deeper puzzles, far too obscure for my brain.

must say the combat is not doing it for me, im not a fan of timing dodges etc and the counter ala dark souls, one of my most hated franchises, i'll probably set it to story mode and enjoy it that way

I could get this for £22 today. But based on comments here here I will.waot until it is quite a bit cheaper and been fully beta tested by Noxia. Will pick it up in maybe 12 months :D

I've uninstalled it as my GP expires tomorrow and it's not making me want to renew, so you'll be a while :D

Also, it seemed pretty well put together from what I played. I don't think there's much testing to be done. I really hope a game like this wins goty over something like kcd2 which whilst it may be a good game, not like any imagination had to go into the world much beyond quests because everything was based on real stuff.
