NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Bit strange the Ventus should be the only card to go sub 2k so far, or even close to it, and at different retailers as well.

Is there actually a reason for it, such as build quality? I did read this was a reference design so should be very similar to other base models?
Well from what I understood, pretty much the "normal" brands would have atleast one msrp proposition, so the Ventus is the MSi one. They can have it now at MSRP after all the hype is not as strong. Hopefully will see more following. PNY, Zotac, Palit and their subsidiary, etc.

Could be a number of factors. I think it is the smallest and lightest 5090, so uses the least amount of metal in its cooler. MSI may also be using it as a loss leader to bring more eyeballs on their lineup.

I got one from that drop as well, thought you might have...
Will have a look later today but as long as there is no/little coil whine it will be good as I going to watercool my system again. Especially if my uv and/or overclocked is close to the Astral, even at 575w, as temps and fan noise will be sorted later, and I can always put different bios on it for 600w, but I think an oc at 575w on water will be a good safety net for the cable.
After the Astral LC, temps were OK with no fan noise really, but the pump noise was way more than a D5. Don't see why I should put up with it/poor value.
So, I'll remove both AIOs and watercool it 'properly'. :)
Still £800 cheaper than the cheapest Astral LC, and £1,200 than the one I bought from OCs, which, on reflection is more than I paid for a 4070ti new, which is nuts.
I only 'need' another radiator but will get new fixtures and fittings and probably a new cpu wb, as 5 years old.
I was out early this morning so missed it :D But, I personally wouldn't buy a 5090 Ventus anyway. I'd rather pay a touch more and hopefully grab a Zotac for the 5 yr guarantee and UK RMA centre. The Zotac's seem to be in pretty good supply (relatively speaking), so hopefully the prices will begin to fall soon.

On a separate note, MM demand for used 4090s seems low, and the thought of selling on the usual auction platform is not particularly appealing...

Fair. Best of luck mate. Good point re the warranty tbf. Think the Ventus might just have 3, don't see an advertised option for 4 unless someone knows different? Don't see me having it longer than that anyway unless the 6090 'starts' at 3k .

Like Vito and others, my intention would be to chuck a waterblock on it. If, when you take the cooler off, it's the same as any other reference PCB from the other brands, I may shift my focus to that and ignore the likes of the Water force WB (which may never reach a reasonable price).

I've not considered it much before, but as i've grown older and more impatitent, a UK RMA centre is a big consdieration. Shipping an £2k+ GPU to Poland (I think it is for MSI) sounds like a true nightmare. The longer warranty is an added bonus.

Oh, it's a great buy for £1.9k if that's the case. I will never waterblock a GPU as I cba with the faff. I would rather just buy a higher end air-cooled GPU.

It's a fair point. If it's going to be wb soon ye might aswell pull the trigger in this case for you guys.

Regarding the 4090 sale, it really went smooth and good value. I had a RTX 4090 Strix Gaming OC. Sold 1500£ (cheap but fast)
P.s this week dont rush to buy the Astral because I play Wii games and need the Gyro inside for it. Thanks :D

totally agree. Gigabyte waterforce cards are way too overpriced. These should be made of pure silver to add 1K extra to msrp card.

The absolute cheapest I've seen the Waterforce WB is £2600, although it's debatable whether there was really any stock of it at that price. Can't see it ever going below £2400 or so.

For under 2200 you can put a decent block on a Ventus.

If you can get a block :) Currently sold out everywhere, and no ETAs available. I've contacted bykski, they said that Bykski GPU Water Block For Inno3D RTX 5090 iCHILL X3/RTX 5090D X3 N-ICH5090DX3-X. But it's 159gpb. plus 22 delivery, plus you have to pay import tax...so i guess waiting for Alpacool block with UK stock makes bit more sense.

It not as bad as you think. I have done this. I went through OCUK. They ship it off to Poland. They 30 days to repair it or you get your money back if it was bought within a month . Mine arrived back on the 29th day. MSI Poland jsut gave me a brand new card as when it came back to me it was a brand new sealed unit. Still had coil whine though, lulz.

Funnily enough I had to Rma a suprim 5090 although a totally different issue to my suprim 4090 and within in the first few weeks...I am sure it a sign but I will be damned if I know what. :P

I don't find high end top tier cards any more reliable than budget range cards. I have had to RMA a Suprim top end card each generation and had to RMA Astal LC due to intermittent fan connector. I could have done it myself but it was under warranty anyways. I also had to RMA an Asus 3090 TI LC. Maybe I should just stick to air cooled cards.

If you are older you can join the grumpy old barstewards crew like me and others who hide behind a strict veil of anonymity. GERROF MAH BLOODY LAWN!!!!!

Are you talking about the extreme 5090 waterforce aio version? There is a guy here who got it for 2200. It was offered to me but with my history of AIO Gpu's I politely declined.

Thanks for sharing that, very interesting. I'm guessing that's the benefit of buying from OCUK.

I'm still going back and forth as to buy a 5090 or not, but I won't completely rule out an MSI card if... it is available at a good price. The Ventus 5090 is £1939-2100, and then the next MSI card is £2600 for the Gaming Trio, which is outrageous. So that seems unlikely.

Ps. I'm not that old, just very impatient and I love a good moan :D I think i'd fit into your old b crew very well tbh.

The Vanguard has been up for for 2600. I was almost tempted. But I already had 4 MSI 5 series and I fancy a change.
