Hi there

Another day, another picture of the 600 LT, so apologies.
Cars 5yr corrosion warranty expired 3rd March 2025, at a health inspection whilst up in the air spotted the rear inner arches were showing corrosion, this was 15th March, I left car with McLaren to be serviced. Upon collection I'd forgot about corrosion as was not really visible on outer panel that much.

Cue early April I remember and spotted it on drivers side so got in touch with Manchester and asked if they reported the corrosion at health check, even though out of warranty and they admitted it had slipped their minds with car no longer been covered, but they asked me to bring car in so body shop manager could take some detailed photos and send of to McLaren HQ.

He was honest and said they are normally strict and will say no, but sometimes they will offer a goodwill contribution.
Anyway a week passed and he came back, I have good news McLaren will cover entire bill, so please drop the car off:

So hence I left car with them, passenger side is about size of a pin head, drivers side is around the size of my finger print, both arches will be rubbed down to aluminium which tends to prevent it returning and repainted/blended which is quite the job on triple layer car but the previous door corrosion repair they did was perfect.

Certainly an issue present on all aluminium super cars it seems, Lotus Emira seems to suffer worse, then McLaren, then Ferrari and Audi, having carried out repairs at my own cost on my 458 (as Ferrari refused any goodwill) and of course recently on my R8.

So always keep a close eye out for it on aluminium panels, the carbon panels on the 600 LT which many of on 600 LT (wings, door inserts, rear spoiler, rear decklid along with front splitter and rear diffuser do not suffer it.

Lovely looking 600 Gibbo, is the green in the previous picture a wrap or a McLaren colour. Mine is with McBrum at the moment, hoping to get it back this week following some warranty work! :)

It is a wrap!
But McLaren Napier green is same but less metallic/pearlescent flake, the wrap was a little OTT but still nice.

That’s for sure.

I have collected this today.

About 10 years ago a certain Ocuk motors member took me for a quick spin in a red E92 M3.

Since then it has been a dream of mine to own one. Today I made that dream a reality. Honestly it drives better than the M4. It is unbelievable.

A lot of people moved to M4s but then went back to the V8 engine and more raw experience. Great cars out the box. Even better with a few tweaks.

I’ve already got a bunch of things planned with Fast Road Vehicle Solutions in Burton.

I’m getting the throttle actuators replaced with uprated version, as there is a fault with them at the moment. Car is going into limp mode when I try to downshift in anything more than setting 3. Rod bearing replacement and adding Apple car play module, and an exhaust mod. Once all this done the sound and driving experience is going to be insanely good.

Get it decatted and mapped. Opens them right up. Mine is fully uniballed which tightened it up no end.

Been fine with 1 car for many years as Mrs could walk to work. Now we have moved we needed a 2nd car. Originally she was looking at ND MX5s but changed her mind and ended up with a 2019 BMW Z4 M40i. Absolutely loving this thing especially with the weather this week.

The only aluminium in the Emira is the chassis, the body panels are a lightweight composite.
