Which motherboard & Cpu?

Hello all,
I'm needing some advice, as the title says which motherboard & Cpu are a good choice for a gaming pc build? I know there are a lot of factors to consider in my build but for now all I know is:- modular power supply and a gtx 4080 gpu.
Things like pc case depend on which ones can accommodate the gpu, motherboard and cpu water cooler and I want space for a lot of cooling fans. (and I would like a case that's not your regular rectangular basic case shape.)

Can you give us the budget for the whole build minus any parts you already own and/or the parts you don't want.

It is much easier to do a spec that way than try to allocate a set amount to each part.

The budget is not too much of a factor but I don't want to be spending to much, I'll decide on which options are given at the time mate.

For gaming where budget isn't a problem then this ^

But you've asked a really broad question, why do you need a lot of fans? a decent setup doesn't necessarily need 10 RGB fans whirring away.
What is your experience, are you building it?
You'll need to give some more info like tetras says.
Cases are a personal choice, browse them on OCUK and link to them here if you want comments on them.

You can't say in one breath
The budget is not too much of a factor
But don't want to be spending too much
That's a direct contradiction

The guys in here (not my strong point)
Are great at doing build lists
But you either need to give a maximum budget
Or be a lot more specific about stuff
Or be prepared to answer questions when asked
Like do you already have the 4080?
If not then why did you decide a 4080? Etc

Big thank you to all that have replied. I want a gtx 4080 because it's modern, upto date and should be more than powerful enough for the games I play (please don't ask which games I play. Lol) All I'm looking for is your advice on a good gaming motherboard and cpu which can run this gpu and is modern and upto date.
Here's some more useless info, would also like to have the ability to run two hard drives.

The point is
Asking what games you play
And at what resolution and refresh rate is a
very relevant question
When deciding what gpu
Two hard drives should be no issue
Though again do you mean mechanical drives,2.5 sata ssds
Or m2 drives or a mix of those?
The questions people ask may seem irrelevant
But really they aren't
They're asking the questions in order to give you
The best advice/solution they can
And to help you get the best bang for your buck

Otherwise we might as well all quote tammzy and say
9800x3d + any b850 motherboard then

Is this a card you already own? If you don't, you probably won't get one (they're rare to find anymore). The 9070/9070 XT, 5070 and 5070 Ti are likely to be more easily obtainable.

Are you playing at 1440p or 4K?

Why don't you want to say the games? It is important to know this, to choose the best CPU for you.

In the absence of knowing what parts you want/need and don't want/need, this is a micro-atx build I did for another thread:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,213.87 (includes delivery: £11.98)

The 9800X3D is the gaming CPU to buy right now, but obviously it is expensive and we can't say if you actually need one (or heh, if you can afford one).

Think it's frustration
More than cynicism coming out
If i want a build list
Tetras is one of the guys i would tag
There are others great at build lists too though
So apologies for not mentioning everyone
Maybe I just like bothering tetras or something though

But it's same as most things in life
You want something
Unless you know specifically exactly what you want
You're going to be asked questions to pin it down
Whether you think the questions are irrelevant or not
That's why you're asking someone for advice
You assume they are more knowledgeable than you are
So yeah when you're using your time
And helping someone for free
Can see why he might get frustrated

I'd call it heat stroke due to the current heatwave, but unfortunately this has been going on for quite awhile.

The cynic in me wonders if some of it is engagement bait rather than genuine questions.

yeah, not much excitement in the pc hardware space recently with all the fake MSRPs (esp the 9070XT)

Begs the question of why someone would spontaneously research a last gen GPU with little to no stock and decide to build a rig around it based on very vague ideas. :p
