If finishing 2nd 3 times in a row to two of the best sides the league has ever seen when you've been languishing outside of the top 4 for most of the last decade is worthy of being fired then the game's gone. Would you be Howe out if you finish 6th this season?

They also have as much chance of winning the UCL as anyone else left does, they dumped Madrid out of their own competition in style, PSG have shown they're still vulnerable and Barca's definitely beatable if you can contain their attack which is one of Arsenal's biggest strengths. Wouldn't even begin to count them out of the Champions League yet.

The point is that football is a cutthroat business and Arsenal could find themselves in exactly the same position as this or worse in 3 years time. Eventually players might start to look elsewhere to win things. You might struggle to keep the players happy. Sometimes you do need something different to get you over the line.

I don't think many people would suggest that Arteta hasn't done a good job (albeit with a small amount of backing in the transfer window ;) ) but will he deliver that silverware. Will you be happy in a few years being the bridesmaids every season.
