Hey all, trying to figure out ‘best place’ to book for our anniversary

Have narrowed down to following places potentially:

Sexy fish

Park chinois

Amazonico

Aqua kyoto

The blacklock

I know some of them might not have the best food and might be more drink related but just want to tick 1 of them off the list

Also might go 1 of them for drink only then somewhere more foodie for dinner or vice versa

Any other reccomendations would be great, steak places mainly

Thanks

I've only been to Amazonico, but it was a really enjoyable meal and the effort that went into the decor etc does make it feel quite special.

We went for lunch rather than a fancy dinner but still very memorable, would comfortably recommend.

Thanks, at least a drink or 2 in here is def on the cards
Wunder Bar, Glasgow.

Tell Angela at the bar it's your anniversary for the VIP experience.
Too far for now, maybe on my bday

You seem to be into seafood... and Mayfair looks to be within your scope...

I suggest Scott's, on Mount Street.
Brilliant seafood, considerable heritage and a good serving of old-fashioned class. I hear the dressed crab goes nicely with a black velvet.

Def.not into.seafood lol
All.thr other places are more Asian but a definite cusine is not required
Either steak or again would be good though

To be honest that list is very much skewed to what I would politely call "footballer" restaurants. Ones that are [1] in Mayfair and [2] priced accordingly. None of those are known for their amazing food, apart from Blacklock but that is a very casual affair so I'm not sure why it's on your list (if you're talking about Blacklock Soho?). They're more places to be seen.

Hot Dinners is my go-to for restaurant recommendations, here's their list for Mayfair https://www.hot-dinners.com/Features/The-best-restaurants-in-London/the-best-restaurants-in-mayfair

Ones from that list that are well-renowned would be places like Benares, Gymkhana, Noble Rot (expensive but maybe a little casual), Bentley's, Bibi, Hide, Mount St. Full disclosure I've not been to any of them apart from Kitty Fischer's which was lovely. But not really Mayfair glam (it's a pokey town house, very romantic in that way... food lovely mind).

Personally if you want a glow-up Mayfair spot I'd hit a hotel bar and restaurant. The Connaught, Claridges, The Savoy etc. Besides Gymkhana, the other restaurant in that area I'm desperate to try is Maison Francois. Maybe Hide, too.

I realise most places i have chosen are either more bars or asian food than restaruants or steak places but they have been on the list to go visit and dont often get to travel to central (life gets busy)

Im thinking 1 of the places - maybe sexy fish or amazonico for drinks then somewehere for dinner or vice versa, dinner first then drinks.
In terms of dinner want to stay close as poss to either mayfair or picadilly

That is a bizarre list of restaurants. OP are you an Instragram influencer or wealthy Arab / Russian? :p

If looking for somewhere special for drinks around Mayfair, I'd recommend the Connaught Bar. It doesn't take reservations but you can pretty much guarantee table if you arrive when it opens at 4pm. The best food I've had around the West End recently is at The Devonshire which also happens to have a great selection of steak and other meat. It's ridiculously popular so you need to be quick when they release tables, which is at 10:30am on Thursdays 3 weeks in advance.

Rules is great, It's the oldest restaurant in London apparently.

I've been there a fair few times and love it. One of the times I was in there I had Dustin Hoffman sat next to me, total gentleman (goes to show you can never tell)..

Must admit I had a hard time not doing my Rain Man smoke alarm impression though.

I’ve only had a private dinner there for about 30 of us. It was great.

I ate next door when they were filming Spectre there. Didn’t realise beforehand but by the time we came out the rain machines were in etc.

Good fun, I used to work a few doors down too — opposite that big awful bar whatever it’s called :p
