The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

The 9070XT is killing it in Doom The Dark Ages. May not be as good once the PT update is released but the game looks good enough in standard RT mode.

With PT it's gonna be unplayable without fake frames isn't it? Unless you're on a 5090.

Edit. Though I presume no FSR4 in this because it's Vulkan. So those charts aren't quite apples to apples are they? FSR 3.1 doesn't hold a candle to DLSS4 unfortunately

Out with my trustee, but old, Gigabyte 1070 Gaming OC.

I was expecting a big card but this thing is huge.

Had no issues ith installation or fitting the backplate, no cable problems.

Checked and this card has the Hynix memory, but not running to hot.

Have noticed some coil whine but only under very heavy loads.

Also, fitted a new PSU, Corsair RM1000x, as my old EVGA unit starting to make a whining noise, and replacing it reduced the fan noise from the system as well.

Overall very happy with the upgrade and the benchmarks so far have shown excellent results. Black Myth Wukong Benchmark, went from around 35-40 FPS on my 1070, to 140 FPS average, and up to 200 FPS using FSR.

Nice card dude. Are they supposed to be changing the memory on all the cards do you know?

I just got an XFX Magnetic Air and checked and it has the Hynix memory, but like you said, it's not running overly hot.

My card was so big I had to buy a new case

Not sure on the memory, last I read they were supposed to be going over to Samsung.

Looked at the XFX cards but OCUK dropped the price on the Nito to £679.99, from £719.99, so grabed it. Was planning on the Pulse but thought th extra £30 for the extra cooling was worth it.

I'm really wanting a white 9070xt, but the Nitro+ is a great looking and performing GPU and now very tempting at this price.
Ahhhh I can't decide!!

Yeah I was wondering if the XFX would have the Samsung memory being what I assume is a later production model. I have the Pulse 9070 (non XT) that I got on launch day with Hynix memory.

I got lucky and copped a white quicksilver magnetic air for £599 for the XT. Couldn't turn it down at that price, even if it did warrant a new case lol.

The cooler on the XFX is massive and definitely feels like a more premium product but I do like the Pulse cards for what they do, probably the best MSRP cooler.

Did like the look of the XFX card especially the magnetic fans, and the overbuilt heatsink, but with the over inflated prices, for everything these days, went with who ever had the lower price, and fulfilled my requirements.

Has anyone noticed there system booting faster since upgrading to a 9070XT ? I know this sounds crazy, like a GPU would really make that much of a difference.......but I barley even see the Windows boot logo now, it just flashes up and boom im in windows, previously with my 7900XT I had the windows logo doing its thing for at least 8-10 seconds, which doesnt sound long, but time 8-10 seconds and see how long it really is compared to nothing now, i'll see if I can post a video in a short while.

not as fast as it sounds like yours is [im still on am4 and i also have a bit more than average on startup going on not much but still lol]
my pc has about 10-12 ish second boot time it was about 15 seconds before when i had the 3060 in there
so not enough to notice if you wernt timing it but as you mentioned it yes about a 2 or 3 second difference i my case
tbh the whole machine other than the odd quirk here and there it seems to run a lot smoother with the xt in there
either way yeah i have to say the whole experience has been 99% positive from my point of view
admittedly the current world hardware situation may have made a half decent thing seem better than it is and all that but yeah im glad I have this setup no regrets

Yeah same here, I wouldn't have paid the massive premium for it since models like the pulse would have been fine, ironically at the price I got it it was the cheapest available model because of the sale on a certain shop on the bay of E's. It was was actually cheaper in that deal than it was on launch day (I think it was ~£700) There have been quite a few on offers lately if you check around. As with previous gens usually the XFX cards get discounted more often for some reason, it was the same way when I got my 6750 XT, the XFX one was on sale which made it the cheapest. Really good cards too, just gotta keep ya eyes peeled. Looks like the FOMO hype is dying down things will probably 'normalise' soon.

Yes 100% noticed this!

Everything feels snappier, I was wondering if it was just me coz I was thinking I've not changed any of my SSD's etc but there is a definite improvement in performance in general and now you've said it then I must have been right!

Can you share your settings please?
-20% power limit
-70mV voltage offset
VRAM 2730MHz fast timing
Fan tuning at a fixed 27% up to 80c and then ramp up aggressively to 60%
I should add that mine is the Quicksilver gaming edition which doesn't have magnetic fans so it might not be the exact same. It can also depend on how good the airflow in your case is. You could try a lower fixed fan speed and run a stress test to make sure the hotspot and memory temperatures aren't too high.

probably really premature on this one........
does anyone think that the vram would be upgradable in a 9070xt?
been seeing blogs where people have whacked a 4090 core into i think it was a 3090 card and putting in double the vram
im not thinking going that far was just wondering if in theory the vram could be swapped out for better quality higher capacity chips on one of these....... probably already at the limit of what it can use but worth asking even if only for acedemic reasons lol.

You would need a custom built driver I would imagine!

yeah ive seen one where they take a 4090 core/chip place it in a 3090 [i think] card [pin comppatible and hte 30 series variant had twice as many vram positions in clamshell or something] put the larger capacity chips in and boom 48gb 4090 frankenstein [something about having to jumper some pins to allow it to read the extra vram or something]
tbh it would probably not be worth it
was more just wondering if it technically would be possible probably not though lol
