*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

Sure, I can fathom it will take time to process thousands of orders ( who knows how much Nintendo have ? ), but imminent dispatch for goods that are 3-4 weeks before launch ? Odd.
It’s totally normal.

Apple does the exact same thing around big launches, they are just better at managing customer expectations and make sure they and their couriers say nothing until the device is actually shipped.

Probably because it represents 0.05% of the parcels Amazon is shipping out on that day. It's just a whole other level of logistics, my local Amazon delivery hub (not a warehouse, just purely for loading vans for local delivery) is larger than all the dedicated couriers (DPD etc).

Nintendo direct will likely be using a 3rd party fulfilment centre, they are don't sell the volumes for buying and building out your own warehouse in the UK for the purpose of direct to consumer deliveries. Most switch sales will be via retailers rather than Nintendo direct although I imagine they'll sell far more direct than they did the original switch.

I managed to get a pre-order in with Argos very early, but worried I am essentially paying a lot of money just for Mario Kart at this point.

A warning to others, it is currently impossible to Cancel my Argos order, so I am stuck with it at the moment. Not sure I have the will power to turn away the delivery when it arrives which seems my only option now.....
Yeah noticed the same on the Argos pre-order - I suspect these might be getting fulfilled from a central warehouse rather than shipping from Argos themselves. You see it a lot with some of the "catalogue" stores where stock comes from their supplier, not their warehouse.
I got an Amazon pre-order as well (had £300 of credit) so will be selling my second Switch to a mate who hasn't got his wife one ordered yet!

Little bits and pieces of info. A PIN is an upgrade from the Switch 1 for sure. Also, remember the Today app? I randomly checked it and there's a post about the Switch 2 having a battery health function where you can limit the charge to 90%.

A fingerprint sensor would have been nice!

What's the deal with the upgraded games if you have physical copies, do you just have to pay full price for them again? Finished BOTW but only played TOTK for a short period, so be good to get back into that.

Leaked shipping manifest declarations shows Nintendo values Switch 2 consoles manufactured in Vietnam at $338 USD, that's the cost of the machine to Nintendo. That leaves $100 from the retail price to cover margins for Nintendo and the retailer

Botw upgrade is £7.99 if I remember correctly. I assume it doesn't run at all without the upgrade but not 100% sure.
All games on the compatibility list will run ... both the older versions of BotW and TotK certainly do. But if someone wants to play the Switch 2 "upgraded" versions they will either need to purchase the upgrade ( as a DLC ) or get it through the subscription service.

Simply buy the "upgrade" ( downloaded as a DLC ) or in the case of BotW and TotK the upgrade is available as part of the Nintendo subscription service ( the more expensive tier ). Presumably you'll still have to insert the cartridge as you normally would on the Switch 1. The DLC will just be a patch downloaded to the internal SSD.

Do any of you collect Amiibo? I've always been curious but I've never bought one.

No, but I have few, some from Wii U collectors editions and the odd one, or two which I bought on their own. For example the Metroid Dresd double set. I've only really used them to unlock Mii Outfits in MK8 and not much else. The few I have sit on my shelf.

Ah, cool. Thank you!

I bought the Yoshi yarn Amiibo on sale a few years ago.. just because too. I remember getting Zelda BOTW items with it in game.

I bought my niece all of them, she has all the little ones in all the colours, and the giant one. I didn't get the dog though. I don't think she has any idea they can be used on the Switch. She's had them ever since she was like 3 years old (she is 10 now), and I gave her my Switch 2 months ago.
