My wife just gifted me a 9950x3d and I am over the moon at the moment :D!!

I am upgrading from a 7800x3d and currently use a deepcool ls720 SE which works fine with peak synthetic loads topping out at 79 degrees C in summer weather and games reaching about 65 degrees C.

I would think that this cooler will do the job but I have also got an inch to see if I should also change my AiO as well. I know air coolers will do the job just as well and cheaply but I am a sucker for RGB (got a theme going on) so looking at an alternative 360mm AiO.

Artic freezer iii looks like a strong option but reading the reviews note that folks have issues with mounting on AMD sockets so not knowing what to expect I will probably avoid it.

Any other suggestions on what can can keep the 9950x3d under check?

Budget of £100-£250

Cheers!

Temps have always been good, and certainly better than the Peerless assassin I used temporarily.
It comes with a tube of MX4 iirc, so don’t buy any.
There’s plenty of reviews on YouTube for the Thermalright AIO’s.

Just completed a new build for my son, 9950X3D on ASRock Taichi MD and Artic Freezer III 360. No issues at all with the install . I have a 420 Freezer II in my Intel build and also in my brothers PC's 360, all with no issues. Look at the various teardowns on Youtube on the Atric Freezer and you will see excellent build quality and user feedback of good customer service. In the Lian Li EVO RGB case we are seeing 40C idle and 65C in games.

Thank you! That is very useful to know.

You'll want to check on Arctic's website if their AIO is compatible with your motherboard without having to remove the nvme heatsink (not all Asus boards are)

I did and it turns out I need to request a custom bracket for my mobo if I buy the AiO.

Not sure how cumbersome this is, any ideas how long it takes for them to send this part?

At the moment, I am going to try my current deepcool and see how it gets along (working at the moment so testing will need to wait)

I went for the Be Quiet Silent loop 3 for my 9950X build. Great performance and virtually silent. The fans don't have RBG though, but I didn't want anything with RGB so this was a plus for me.

You should also check you have clearance if putting the Arctic in the top of your case as it has a thicker rad than most others aio. The arctic rad is 38mm compared to most which are 27mm.

So I just installed the 9950x3d with the existing deepcool 720 se and I am getting the following temperatures:

Ambient room temperature is currently 27 degrees C.

Cinebench peak CPU package temp was at 75C
Peak Prime 95 temp was 82C
Idling at around 49-54C

Gaming:
Oblivion Remaster 4k max settings - between 62-65C
Clair Obscur 4k max settings - between 60-65C

Is this something in the right ball park or should I be looking at another AiO?
