So what should they have done when they had literally just got their feet in the door? The players we signed last summer haven't been bad signings IMO either. Should they just have come in and stopped all signings? And yes, the EtH thing wasn't well handled but a lot of fans, myself included weren't sure about sacking EtH because although peoples memories are short, we had absolutely insane injury issues last season. He won the FA Cup despite that. In hindsight we should have sacked him but I don't believe its the clear choice every time within the context of the season.

I'm sure they did. I doubt his answer was "sack Ten Hag and sign Southgate, bish bash bosh". You can hire people who turn out not to be what you want or expect. Part of running a business well is identifying that as early as possible and acting on it. They did that. They likely should have caught this before hiring him but they didn't. They were decisive when they realised.

As I said, no debating they have made some questionable decisions. These are not, in the grand scheme of running a successful football club even remotely important though.

Nope, I agree.

My point is that all the things you can point at or argue are mistakes are not the big ticket items. Recruitment, setting standards on the football field, moving players on at the right time, rewarding success not failure, hiring the right managers. These are the things that matter and yet people are throwing their toys out of the pram declaring that INEOS are doing an awful job despite none of these things having had enough time for us to draw any conclusions.

The players might not be bad singings (hardly amazing though) but would Amorim swap them out given the chance? In hindsight yeah they should have paused but everything is easy in hindsight.

I think they have messed up big ticket items - perhaps that's where our misalignment is. I think they've screwed the club up, morale must be in the gutter. The league position doesn't lie. They don't seem like particularly nice people either.

I don't trust them to make the right decisions in the next window which as someone said, is going to set the scene for the next few years. It's quite alarming that it's got to this stage. It all hangs on this one window pretty much because something drastic is needed.

Please convince me, why should I trust them, what evidence do we have they're capable, the Rashford/Sancho handling? Ashworth firing?

Good scouting and calculated risk is the answer... fingers crossed :p

The EL final is going to be such a huge game, the stakes are just incredible. I think if we lose there's a good chance they'll sack Amorim and maybe Berrada too.
I’m 100% in agreement with you regarding Amorim. Who ever loses the final will also lose their manager.

How would you handled/ handle Rashford and Sancho ?
I want both out but both are tied under big contracts given by the previous regime

Well the logic is that he's made the same group of players play even worse than EtH, so I guess that's why people are saying Amorim is worse than EtH.
Playing the ‘who’s worse’ guessing game is pointless. If they’d kept ETH, maybe we’d be a bit further up the table. Who knows. Wouldn’t have mattered though, the team would still be gash.

Is anyone able to answer why only the first team are playing the new formation? What's the logic behind that?
From what I read ages ago, the U21s/18/16s etc play different so they can learn football in all aspects. So the youngsters will play all manner of formations and styles during their development. No point in getting them to play a set formation, as by the time they are ready for the first team, we could have a new manager playing a 5-3-2 for all we know.

I cant link source as I have no idea where I read it, but I am pretty sure it was one of Utds youth team managers/coaches who said it.

Either loan out or stick them with the kids until the accept a cheaper contract buy out. I wouldn't have bought Sancho nor given Rashford the ridiculous contract in the first place (appreciate that Ineos didn't do this either). I think ineos did well to ship them out although Sancho at least will probably be back and as disruptive as ever.

If any Utd coach has admitted to this I'd be amazed. While it's proven to be true, that nobody could tell you who the Utd manager will be and how they'll play, that is only a condemnation of how the club has been run and not something you'd base your youth program on.

At younger age groups there might not be any particular focus on style of play or formation but from those sorts of age groups, any sensible club, will be setting up sides in the image of the first team.

Imagine being a staff member and being told you have to buy your own ticket for the match that you helped the team prepare for :o as part of your day job. The biggest match of the season. A cup final.

This is another reason to dislike INEOS. Case in point, what a nasty bunch.

Wasn’t it Gary Neville who raised the question when he interviewed Amorim?
