5700x3d temperatures ok?

Hi,

I am wondering if my temperatures are okay/ good on the 5700x3d?

I installed it the other day, I get 85 degrees max on prime for 1 hour and 0 errors.

I play far cry 6 and it's 67 degrees max.

Its quite a bit hotter then the 3700x I replaced.

?

As I say no stability errors with the cpu.

my cooler is the Dark Rock 4 cooler, it is however quite quiet even on max fan speed which is a positive

I suspect he means stock settings, you could try setting an offset if you want to bring temps down further but there's nothing wrong with your temps.
 
If your mobo has the Kombo Strike option then set it to 3. That will lower temps with losing any performance. If not then see if it will let you set a -30 core offset for every core.

I have now enabled that, the cpu seems to be running a little bit cooler and slighly faster. Will look more tomorrow! Thankyou!

Absolutely fine, the X3D chips run a lot hotter due to the location of the extra cache. My 5800X3D with NH-D15S (two fans) is significantly hotter again, but this to be expected due to the design.

Which prime? The small ffts (ffts? Lol). The chips down clock so it may be worth checking your all core clocks, package power should be about 140W at stock. Gamers nexus do it in their testing if you want to compare.

I think mine sits at 81oC running prime (newer version, maximum heat setting). I have undervolted it but I think my cooler is worse than yours. 110W-120W. Been a while.....

Unfortunately my case is renowned for not being the coolest of cases.Will look at package power and what Prime test it was.

Seems about right. 85 is the max usual temperature of this CPU, and Prime95 is an extremely unrealistic workload. So you're fine running it as is. I get similar temperatures on mine, cooling it with an Arctic Freezer 36. Have you tried undervolting? Mine handles the max -30 on all cores like a champ. Cuts down a good 6-10C.

I put on kombo strike. I haven't tried manually to undervolt yet. Noticed lower temperatures :) thanks for that info thats really useful to know your arctic freezer gives similar results,reassuring.

Remember that these benchmarking/stress test apps are geared towards really pushing the hardware to its limits. Under normal loads (eg. gaming, productivity), you will get lower temps. Undervolts are really great on the Ryzen chips, almost all of them can handle -15, most can handle -20 and many can do -30. In general I don't think you have to worry. Have fun and enjoy your CPU!
