I’m sure this has been asked before, but what’s everyone’s thoughts on the PS5 pro?
I’ve currently got a PS5 and a Razer laptop, but couldn’t get the laptop to play Expedition 33 so bought on PS :D
I enjoy the PC gaming, but just find PS easier when I just want to jump into something.
Thinking with DS2, Ghost of Yotei, and eventually GTA6 coming out, now is a good time to get the PS5 pro?
It's not a massive step up, but I have no regrets at all. Some games are optimised a lot better eg. HZD Forbidden West, Monster Hunter Wilds, GT7, and others are barely noticeable. I appreciate the extra storage ( 2Tb vs 667Gb on base PS5 ). I'm confident new releases will take advantage of the Pro eg. Death Stranding 2, GTA 6 ( when it launches ), Ghost of Yotei etc. If you can trade in your base PS5 for a decent price it's not that expensive. I sold mine and a Series X and that almost covered the cost entirely.

Yeh the extra storage will also be good.
I think with a few years left of the PS life cycle, it will be worth it.

Anyone else have an issue with their PS5 when turning the TV on the console, the console makes you go through resizing the screen and HDR calibration pages continually?

Enjoying Doom Dark Ages at the moment, plays really nicely on PS5 Pro and it's nice to play a bit of a mindless shooter. Definitely have found myself gravitating more towards games where I have to think less in the last few weeks. Forza Horizon and now Doom.

I don't regret buying my Pro, when I first got it I envisaged playing more of my backlog of console games on the larger screen at glorious 60FPS and I did have a lot of fun with Spideman. But since then the Pro has been relegated to my media player with the odd gaming session, but for the most part I prefer playing on my PC with higher detail and FPS. My strategy now is PC gaming first and then console for the exclusives and RPG games, like FF7 etc....which is clearly why I brought Clair Obscur on the PC, but then it was £26 :D .

The difference between PS5 and Pro isn't the night and day difference you had back in the PS4 days, so unless you have a burning desire for the Pro or can get a really good return on the current PS5 couple with a good price for the Pro (+disc drive if you want it) then I would just save your money. Perhaps later if PSSR2 becomes a reality and offers some real benefits it will be worth it.

Not come across this but suggests a wonky HDMI handshake or somesuch between console and TV. Tried plugging it in to a different HDMI port on the TV or even a different 2.1 cable?

I don't think it's the cables, they were new and haven't been touched since I set the TV, but I have reseated them just in case. Something I have just noticed is that the PS5 is showing the VRR range as 48-60 and not 48-120 which is what I'm expecting, so I've restarted the console and reset the video mode which is now showing the full 48-120 so I'll see how I go.

Interesting. Does the PS5 itself display the VRR range or is that the TV? I have a LG CX and have never discovered what it thinks outside of spamming the green button for a FPS/hz indicator.

Yes, the PS5 shows the details in the screen and video settings area, section at the top shows supported rez/refresh rates etc.

Still have £35 of points to spend. Pity this loyalty scheme is disappearing - not the best of its kind, but in conjunction with PSN vouchers from the likes of CDKeys etc it can help reduce the cost of games by a fair chunk. Guess I won't be buying as many games going forward from the Playstation store. Steam wins ... again.

Days of Play sale is now on for the next 14 days. Includes discounts on hardware, including consoles, as well as games. Some decent offers eg. 50% off the deluxe edition of Alan Wake 2 at £25. Base PS5 ( with disc drive ) at £389.99. Meanwhile Xbox has pumped up their prices ...

Silent Hill 2 finally at a "reasonable price" after 8 months! never known a ps5 game take so long! but after all this time, £30 still feels a lot, im going wait a bit longer for <£25 probably will be around Halloween lol.

Yeah, I think the price will drop a bit more by the end of the year ( like it has on PC ).
