S2000 owners thread. 9,000rpm of goodness in here.

Yeah I find the S2000 especially hard to price. Using other ads as a guide also doesn't help too much as I think many are priced very optimistically, and thus remains for sale for a looking time.

I've nearly had mine a year, and there's still ads up that were live when I was searching, dreamers.

The key here is quick sale so I feel Myers is right, £9k feels about right based on what we know, may e eve. £8k due to the roof, and for me the mods .

I saw one yesterday for £17k, same spec as mine and I just know that isn't happening, way off. Id consider selling up if it was that easy

So I'm in the process of selling up my Mustang Bullitt to replace with a Fiesta ST and a nice weekend toy S2000. A local dealer as a nice 2009 model with a good history and decent mileage however the horrors of the 08/09 engine failures are making me feel a bit uneasy. I would imagine by now any engine issues would have surfaced given the age of the car? Anyone got any insights to offer? Aware of most of the other common issues.

TBH I wouldn't buy anything newer than a March 2006 example simply bacause of the additional road tax. I just can't stomach £760.

Yeah same, I strictly looked for 2004/early 2006 for that reason.

We are looking to move house this year, and right at the back of my mind is a little voice saying "sell the car" but I'd rather not if we can manage without doing so.

I do daily mine, and I must admit sometimes the harsh ride isn't ideal especially on the roads near work, pot hole galore.. but when I go on a proper weekend drive, the love comes back :D

I've just about hit 1 year with mine this month as it's due its first MOT in my ownership at the end of this month. I can't see any reason for issues based on it's current clean history, but we will see ;)

Admittedly expensive, but Ohlins R&T really transform the daily ride on the car.

Yeah it is a sore one but I'd likely have it off the road during the winter months so I could kind of stomach it.

My Bullitt is getting picked up tomorrow and I've lined up a nicely sorted MK8 fiesta ST with a load of mountune goodies. Once that's all sorted then hunt for a good'un will properly start. Excited at the prospect of getting back in an S2000.

Agreed. Especially after a few thousand miles and they have bedded in. Mine are lovely.
I messed with mine, 12kg springs front and 10kg rear now, also got CSohara cups coming for the rear so I can adjust it properly, standard they don't go low enough with the right amount of preload..

I may see if I can revert mine back to OEM springs for now.

When I bought it, I wasn't aware that it had been lowered on what I believe to be just Tien Springs alone.

The ride is really hard/uncomfortable imo so as a budget option to make that better, maybe rolling back to OEM Springs is a good idea.

I do like how it sits though, but also don't feel I can justify full Online money on it right now.

Thoughts? Any links to the right springs appreciated. Mines a 2004.

Anything else to be aware of it reverting back to stock springs?

Nothing really to be aware of. Personally, I'd try and get hold of some stock suspension and just transfer it over wholesale. Nearly all aftermarket springs are harder / lower than stock. Faster to do too as you won't need a spring compressor.

Had to park out the front of our workshop today, under a tree.

SAP everywhere!

Whilst cleaning, I noticed the spoiler lip has started to come away :( are these just stuck on with tape? May need to remove it and redo it?

Scared I'll do some damage!

Interesting. It came with it on, and just assumed it was OEM, some suggested it looked like it could be by honestly I don't know how I would tell until now.

I guess the bolt positions would be obvious inside the boot lid?

Had a look when I got home today, pried it up a bit.

It's not screwed on from what I can tell, but does appear to be located by some sort of studs attacked to the boot, that locate into holes on the spoiler?

Bad photos to try and show it.

What do we think?

Either way I guess it has to come off :(

Tips to remove it with minimal damage? Heat gun maybe?

Then what tape is used to secure these? I'm guessing 3M something something

Thanks all

That looks like the threaded insert came out of the spoiler it self. I’d just take it off (under lid bolts/nuts) clean it and use some 3m vhb tape to stick it back on. It’ll hold no problems. Is is the oem one. Copies use tape alone and have no holes. Mine was a copy and was solid with just tape.

Same. Mine is a copy and held on with tape.

That's the thing, I don't see any under lid bolts/nuts. Maybe it's OEM and they just used tape

I can't see anywhere on the underside of the boot lid that you can get to for fixing in line with those studs pictured

I may just be being completely silly :D

In the meantime I'll grab that tape ^^ any particular type? Seems to be various grades

Looks like I'm back in the fold, the local indy garage I've used over the years is a well known Honda specialist and he gave me the heads up on a nice Royal Navy Pearl that was about to come up for sale as the owner has just bought a rather lovely NSX. Went and saw it tonight, mechanically it's in great shape, well maintained with all the important jobs done stacks of history and just ticked over 51k. It's a 2006 so getting stung with the higher tax but guess I'll only be using it for 6 months of the year. Paintwork and interior needs a bit of TLC but otherwise corrosion free and comes with the hardtop.

Pick it up next week when I get back from my hols. Got it for 15.5k
