Vince's Repair Thread - (Console Repairs & Mods)

You should rename yourself the Ayaneo repair service!! I've dropped a little care package into your account, I hope it's ok buddy :)

Dude that's much appreciated and some will certainly be paid forward to some OCUK members who are in the unfortunate position of having broken things.

Hey Vince, got a problem with my PS3 Slim (again!) that i hope you can help with, it's not reading any discs. It takes the disc as usual and the mechanism loads it in, then the mechanism makes another noise. The disc doesn't spin up and there's no error message on screen. The disc can be ejected again fine, and re-inserted but it does the same thing. I'll need to pop it open next week, any idea what to look out for? :)

Gotta be laser most likely but worth looking it over. Does sound laser related though

Think I've "fixed" it! Took the console apart (whoever decided to put a ribbon cable in the middle of the base of the optical drive is a sadist), removed the optical drive, realised it wasn't going to be easy to get into, gave it a really good shake, put it all together again and it seems to be reading discs fine. :)

Just need to put the shell back on and see if it will accept discs when it's vertical again.

"gave it a good shake" is classic repair methodology  Ive never understood that ribbon there is absolutely no need for it. IF it doesnt play ball and you want some parts do just shout I have one half apart thats has RSX issues according to UART so not bothering with it.

The guide video I was using at the time didn't have that cable there so I didn't notice it until the last second on mine, very weird place for it. The console is back together and standing vertically and seems to be working happily again, thanks though!

Assume it all turned up ok and all is well? :)
Hey buddy! It arrived back safe and well, thanks! Unfortunately after powering up and working fine for a few hours it's back to being a door stop!

It's back to exactly how it was before - powering up and fan spins, but no display. I appreciate your efforts in getting life back into it, but it would appear it's determined to not work!

Is the battery full? Pop it on charge of not and see. Otherwise send it back and I'll have another look over it. It needs about 3 or 4% from what I could tell for it to post. If it isn't right though absolutely send it back.

A day is a bit less than the 3 weeks my one lasted. Mine has however been solid on the new chip so far fingers crossed it stays that way. But yea send it back to me dude.

Hey buddy,

Yep, the battery is definitely full. It's a really strange one, it definitely doesn't want to play ball again.

I really appreciate your offer to send it back, however I feel a bit guilty about you spending even more time with it!
