Update on my dispute with the Rainforest. So my card holder has now refunded me the money around a week after I put in the claim and sent in my receipts. Guess the retailer now has to try and fight it. Will let you know what the eventual outcome is.

I had to return something else to the same place the other day, a very expensive item and this time I took extra precautions. I took a load of pictures, I videoed myself wrapping it up. I videoed myself in the Post Office, I got the clerk to hold my phone where I opened the parcel, showed the contents, wrapped it back up and then handed it over. I showed the label on the box too. I was leaving nothing to chance after the debacle I mentioned a page or two back.

As luck would have it, this time they processed the refund within 48 hours of receiving my return LOL. All that effort for nothing, but this is what you have to do with them now when returning anything of value. Never have to do any of this crap with OcuK, or the other two big UK tech retailers.

You know full well if you had not done any of this you would be in the same situation again.

Its 1 of those things that you can do it on every return from now on but the 1 return you think "Sod it" is the 1 time you would have needed it

Glad you got your money back

Yeah, spot on. I'll adopt similar practises for all returns there now.

When this started happening?

I've returned high value items no problem

Since you don't return as many items like similar to a small country does like @LtMatt does ;)
They probably do flag people based on the percentage of returns. It was very easy to return anything within a year or more. Now there’s this 30 day window. Personally I use any other reputable company other than Amazon. All my PC gear is from OCUK assuming you can buy it, LOL.

Going back a while I seem to remember that Amazon had closed some people's accounts due to their high return rates, a number of those being prior warned that they needed to consider how they shopped.
I think that I'm right to suggest in some cases a number of people living in the same household also had their accounts closed, affecting people like students living in shared accommodation.

Yes, returns did seem to be much easier at one point.
I have even had the odd issue with returns of items shipped by Amazon, sold by third party. They, Amazon, are supposed to take care of returns etc in that case.
Although on more than one occasion they have tried to direct me to deal directly with the seller, when sold as a Prime order.

So does high speed memory above 6000 make a difference?

In all honesty, no. The Mem controller on Zen 4 and Zen 5 is pretty bad when it comes to scaling (especially bandwidth). Even more so with single CCD SKU's.
I hope they do a full overhaul on it for Zen 6.

Run the Fclk as high as your sample will go with stability and tighten up the timings with a 6000-6400 ram kit @ 1:1 and don't worry about higher speed ram scaling. Throwing money into an 8000+ kit is a fools errand with Zen 4 and 5, there are no tangible gains. As you move up the frequency ladder you trade higher speed for slacker timings which with Zen 4 and 5 pretty much results in almost identical performance.
At 8000 the mem controller is set at 1:2 mode which is running at a flat 2000, ideally to speed that up you'd want to run at 8400 with 2100 fclk to get you into 6400-6600 1:1 perf territory which only very few (binned) samples of CPU's (and motherboards) can do with stability.
So at 8400 with 2100 flck you've got "almost" identical performance as 6400-6600 1:1 with 2133-2200 flck
Pretty much the only reason you'd want to run at 8000 is if your CPU is a complete dud and won't run 6400-6600 stable.
Again all of this applies to benchmarks for gaming you're talking quite literally a few fps between ram speed and flck combinations.
That's just how bad the Mem controller is on current Zen CPU's. The flip side of that is you don't need the best (expensive) ram kits to enjoy the platform and keep wondering if there's more (tangible) perf to be had. There isn't !

When I get a delivery of high value I go round the front to collect it from the driver and then I open it there and then without moving so my security camera records me receiving the item, opening the item and then showing the camera what I have received.

This records everything and should cover me for any dodgy stuff anyone does but then saying that I avoid buying expensive stuff from Amazon purely because of all the issues have with people not getting what they paid for and now issues with returns too? its becoming a joke and with this increasing you would have thought someone higher up from Amazon would look into it internally as it must be costing them a fortune as people are doing charge backs and getting their money back that way

This is my experience too. I thought there was some magic settings where it made a tangible difference.

Interestingly. I did try running with 4 sticks of mismatched ram. Two 32GB Hynix A-Die and two 16GB Samsung B-Die. I used mainly auto and CAS 32 …. But could only run at 5600. However the scores on Cinebench R23 didnt really change, slightly up if anything from tight Hynix A-Die timings at CAS 30 at 6000

I don’t think Amazon care anymore. Amazon used to have the best customer service bar none. Prime is a joke along with next day delivery.

Agreed a sensible thing to do. I’ve yet to have the wrong thing be delivered, touch wood. However going forward I think I am going to always record opening-returning stuff.

Regarding the number of returns etc, my case is a little different. Rainforest are claiming I sent an empty envelope back with nothing in it. This was not the case, so it means either Royal Mail stole the items (unlikely), or someone in their returns centre stole the items. When I queried this, they said they had spoken to the courier and determined the parcel was empty. I then asked for proof and pictures of the envelope or details of correspondence with Royal Mail to back up their claims which they refused to provide and said they were unable to process the refund until I sent the correct items back. At that point they stopped responding. So I was left without the items returned and 1.5K of cash. Hence the chargeback.

I had very little proof other than a video of my wife taking the envelope with her to the post office and the tracking number from Royal Mail that the item was returned. I also had a confirmation email from Amazon the next day after it was scanned at the post office stating that they’d received my return and it was on its way back to their return centre and to expect a refund within 14 days. Then nothing for 6 weeks until I chased it up. I did chase it up after 3/4 weeks but they said it can take
Up to 60 days to receive a refund and to check back in early May. And here we are now.

not good at all, to be out of pocket for that amount and that long is unfair on you, Did they even ask the person that claimed to scan the item in? I bet not as its easier for them to blame you or Royal Mail

The clerk at the post office? No doubt it. I doubt they even had much if any contact with Royal Mail. Amazon use Royal Mail tracked 48 service, so no picture of the item when delivered and seemingly very limited cover if the item gets lost.
