Doom - The Dark Ages (2025)

Anybody know what could be causing this graphics glitch where I get squares of graphics that are too light or too dark. It only happens on the second level where your outside, the bit before the mech level.

I thought it might be my undervolt but it isnt. Ive read hot vram can cause boxy graphics but this is the only game ive had it on and just on the second level.

DOOM The Dark Ages has 30k concurrent players on Steam during launch. DOOM Eternal had over 100k. Even Oblivion Remaster has more players. What do you think? Is it due to the high price for a single player game? Is it due to RTX Only? Is it because it's on gamepass? and the combat not as intense as Eternal

A bit dumb making it £70+ and RTX only. Hardly anyone is going to buy it. A setup for failure from day 1.

Reviews aren't great either.

At this point with such a low player count, it's probably going to make a huge loss. Much like Dragon Age Veilguard.

The game gets better and better. 3 chapters left to go. Not worth full price imo, but another great gamepass addition. Watching the DF tech review, really impressive what they’ve done with this.

Not a single bug so far, don’t think I’ve noticed a single stutter and the levels load in about 1 second. 120fps locked 4K is also pretty impressive given so much is going on during the most intense segments.

So I've played 3 chapters of this and not sure it's worth what I paid for a month of Gamepass. I really like all previous Doom games but this doesn't really feel like Doom to me. It's more grounded than Eternal which isn't a bad thing, still gets frantic enough at times but the whole shield mechanic just ruins it for me. Yeah you can just shoot the demons but you waste so much ammo that way and instead just end up straifing back and forth waiting for the demons to throw the green plasma at you just so you can parry it back and melee kill.
Recently played though Doom 2 and all I could think last night was Doom tennis kinda sucks.
It's so easy compared to Eternal also and whoever thought the Titan/Mech level was a good idea needs sacking! Hope there's not many more of those.

Chapter 15

I'm getting through it but the story is pretty lost on me at this point. I stopped following it a while back. I'm still enjoying the more grounded combat but the progression isn't that exciting. There isn't much to look forward to.

The classic Dooms are still the best. If you use one of the updated graphics mods (still kinda old looking now), they still hold up gameplay wise. Classic Doom was all about the great map design, but it's seriously lacking in the reboots.

Yeah I played through it with the ray tracing mod, gives it a very different look and game play is still great

I felt the same, but you eventually get into a rhythm when you know all the mob attacks and spend time dodging everything but the parry-able attacks.

Just finished, was a great romp. About as good as I expected before my first rant on here. AAA titles like this that just run with minor issues are few and far between.

Biggest gripe is graphics: far too much fog. Made me feel like I was playing on an IPS for many of the environments.

Game is incredible, tried to hold of for PT update but will definitely be doing another playthrough when that arrives. First part of the siege really opens up the game world and seems like the most demanding area but thanks to nvidia, MFG keeps the FPS nice and high so smoothness remains

Siege area is where PT will shine!
