*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Must have been a bad week… I broke my scales

I fitted a battery to mine as I hadn't used them in years.
Then stood on the scales, and they literally made a huge crack sound!

120kg :(.. the highest I've ever been so it needs to go. I need to get under 100.

Wish me luck !

Hovering between 89 and 91 kg currently. Have been logging calories better but nowhere near as strict as previously which is what’s stalling any meaningful progress. Maintenance is fine, life is busy I guess.

Hope everyone else doing ok.

90.7KG this week... I've got 1.6KG to go and I will be at the 30KG lost mark since 1st October 2022 when I decided to sort out this mess as I started a new job. Slow and steady wins the race, not a linear path etc but I am thrilled to say the least, health is so much better, fitness is through the roof - targeting a sub 1:40 HM 2 weeks tomorrow for example and have kept the majority of my muscle by making sure I lift at least twice a week (I am not at my peak strength but wouldn't expect to be in a deficit for so long).
Going to keep pushing forward with a view that around the 80KG mark i will be pretty damn lean and it's another 10KG less to carry round the marathon distance in October.

Feeling much better, eating almost back to normal and managed two easy runs without any unfortunate accidents. Maybe the 16k which will include gels will be the true test on that front. Weights held at sub 90 with the reintroduction of food - will be keeping in a deficit until Friday morning so maybe I’ll hit that magic 30KG lost mark this week before I start smashing the carbs on Friday and Saturday for the half marathon.

End of week 2 and I’ve lost 3.3 kilos. I think it’s too quick but, going to keep at 2k calories and see if the rate slows to 1KG per week.

6 more weeks to go in this cut phase. Feeling straight forward so far. Think it helps that I’m limiting the cut rather than thinking I’m going on a permanent diet.

I’ve been kettlebell training since February and starting to get some comments about being muscular which is nice.

Awesome stuff.

I’m just at the airport heading back to the UK with work. My diet has been decent the last few weeks but always falls apart when traveling as there’s always meals out and the odd beer in hotel bars!

The hotel is on the canal so hoping to get up early and get in some decent early walks/jogs.

Getting out of the usual routine is always hard. I’m off to Italy for a conference today… not going to be easy! On the back of various birthday celebrations too.

One sensible choice a day I reckon. Hope the trip goes well.

Italy sounds much more pleasant that Chorley!

I’d made a roast yesterday before the airport thinking I then wouldn’t eat BK at the airport which was a fine plan. However I was meant to have a hire car and so my plan for breakfast/lunch was to head to a local Supermarket and pick up some healthy choices. With not eating last night i was then hungry this morning!

Couldn’t get a car so just had the breakfast hotel. Estimated 1000kcal but was also pretty bland so won’t be doing that again the next few days. Will go to a supermarket after the office. Annoyingly nothing was open by the time I got here last night.

Joined a new gym a couple of weeks ago so I've now escaped the chain gym and I'm training at a semi private place with world record holders/worlds strongest man competitors/top level bodybuilders/high level bjj fighters.

It makes such a massive difference to mindset, it's been a long time since I've felt this battered from my workouts but it feels great and weight is down to 203lbs this morning so quickly approaching the magic 200lb barrier.

Also bonus they have a sauna which I'm currently becoming one with :D

Back to eating and moving normally post illness, 16KM long run yesterday in the glorious sunshine - took on 2 gels (80g carbs total) and didn't have any accidents so that's comforting! Weighed in at 89.74KG this morning so last 4 days have been sub 90 post illness so im hopeful of setting a new baseline.
Will be smashing back the carbs on Friday and Saturday in support of a big HM PB attempt on sunday - sub 1:40 is in my sights and I won't let underfueling stop me!

Unrelated, but I'd really like to open a gym like this. Where I live in Woking, there are two very heavily subscribed low cost gyms. I'm sure some of those people would be happy to pay more to go to somewhere with like 10 racks in a row.

If you did I’d join.

Chain gym and sports park gyms in Guildford and they are far too busy. My old gym in Aldershot is too far for an early morning workout.

Thanks! That's one member

I go to The Gym at lunch times in Woking. The timing suits me and I have no major complaints about the gym, but I'm sure the people who just want to lift heavy avoid it
