UEFA Europa League Final Tottenham vs Man U ** spoilers ** [Wednesday 21st May 2025 @8pm] - "El Crápico"

I’m looking forward to it too. It’s hard to call a winner even though United are almost odds on favourites to win in 90 minutes.

The pressure on the United team must be unreal. They have to win. If they lose a European final to Spurs they’ll never live it down. Complete embarrassment. Probably the only reason they lose is the pressure being too much.

Spurs on the other hand know they are just living the high life and enjoying it. Win or lose.

My main concern is we've normally played well in big games where we are the obvious underdog - like in the FA Cup final, everyone thought City would thrash us.

We struggle a lot more when we're favourites, even when we're just playing at home.

They've lost to spurs 3 times this season, can't see them making it 4 losses on the bounce. Hell they haven't beaten them in 6

Well, going by overall form, United should clinch it as they are currently sat on top of spurs who are in *reads notes* 17th position in the league. Clash of the tight'uns.

Whatever happens tonight a crime will be committed tonight in the fact that a team from the bottom 5 In the EPL qualifies for the champions league next year.

A team in the bottom half of the table is playing in Europa League next season but zero people care or talk about it but because it is United it is just bitter salt.

The biggest crime is that nearly 50% of the Premier League could be playing in Europe next season!

This is a silly comparison. A) Palace have been much better than Utd & Spurs and B) They're going into an inferior competition, which as Utd and Spurs have shown, the bottom half of the PL is too good for.
Theres far too many people put far more effort into hating United than they do into supporting their own team. Go figure.
For the record and I'm sure I speak for most others, it takes me no effort to hate and laugh at Utd.

Commenting as much on United as they do their own team and watching our games just to point and laugh isn't entirely sane and there seems to be quite a few people who do that.

I don’t agree with the former but agree with the latter. Should be capped way less. 6 PL teams in the CL is a bit of a joke but I guess that’s too see the off the super league crap.

The Premier League almost is the Super League at this point. There are what, 4 clubs in Europe who can obviously outmuscle the top 17 PL sides financially? (Real, Barca, PSG and Bayern)

Are they watching your games just to point and laugh or they watch your games and end up pointing and laughing?

This whole 'its just because it's Utd' stuff is so tedious. Big clubs attract more scrutiny and as I said a few weeks back, Utd are getting off lightly compared to what would happen at Real, Barca or Bayern if they were in the situation you're in.

Not really. The rules of the comp have not changed and a team still has to play though all the rounds to get there.

It does look odd though, I do understand what people are saying and all the tiresome social media posts about it. But the rules have not changed!

You reckon people are tuning in to our games expecting anything but this? Come now Baz, lets be serious here. If you watch United at the moment and you aren't a United fan or a fan of the other team then you are doing it so you can laugh and come and wind United fans up.

That is the crux of it and Spurs and United qualifying for the Champions Leagues just shows how weak the competition is now.

Everyone will turn around and say that no English team will win it this season but as with all cup competitions anything can happen. Liverpool topped the group with Arsenal third and Villa 8th. All of them also competing in the hardest league in the world.

As a United fan I couldn't really care if we played in the Champions league or not. What I do care about is the 60+ million free money you get for being in it which is a wrong way to look at the competition but is the state of football atm.

You're really overthinking things if you think rival fans are planning their day around laughing at Utd. They, like me, probably just so happen to watch most football on the TV, whether they end up laughing or not is down to Utd.

But anyway, fingers crossed we can have a laugh tonight.

I do think Amorim's job becomes 10x more difficult if we lose. He's already under significant pressure to get off to a great start next season and that will increase dramatically with a loss. Win, and things immediately start looking much brighter... especially if they follow up with some good signings.

Can he even recover from losing a cup final to Spurs! :o :( It would be incredibly tough...

Then again, it shouldn't all come down to one game, that backfired spectacularly when ETH won the FA Cup.

There's pretty much no chance of Berrada sacking Amorim as he appointed him (and Ashworth left in the process). Ratcliffe could pull rank though - he'd probably fire them both. :p
