Hey,

My bike (which is getting on but highly maintained) is a Cube Analog MTB 29er,This one. :)

Currently has some Maxxis Shorty 29 x 2.30 on it which have been great to be honest, No issues with grip whatsoever even when i do throw it about and still plenty of tread on them...only reason I'm looking to replace them is the sidewalls are starting to show heavy perishment /cracking.

I mainly ride on Tarmac to and from work 5 days a week 1.5 miles each way, Although sometimes i do a detour and will go over everything other than tarmac to get to my destination :D

I think originally from factory this bike had 29 x 2.25,So my Maxxis are a tad wider at 2.30,So would like to maybe stick to that, Not sure if Wider would fit as cant find specific specs.

Ideally would like to spend £35/40 on each tire budget wise, What would you recommend. :)

Schwalbe marathon plus, best commuter tyre I’ve come across!

Very robust, I do about 100 miles a week on some filthy pot holed roads around Bradford and they haven’t missed a beat, no punctures, they’re a good reliable tyre. Only downside is they’re on the heavier side but they roll very smoothly and are quiet. Mine have covered around 3000 miles and there’s still loads of life left in them, barely scratched the surface of them!

I think I’m a schwalbe marathon plus man for life now!

Hey,Cheers for the reply,

Oh they're more like a "slick" roadbike type of tire the Marathon plus, My only concern with those is they have no ratings on Schwalbe's website for "All weather" which makes me wonder if they'll be slippy in the rain and not that suitable?

Could stick to the mtb tyres and get some maxxis rekon race from merlin. They roll well and will fit whilst being very good if you need to detour.

If you want to stick with MTB tyres then Vittoria Mezcal XC Trails are what I recommend (the grapene ones), probably in a 29x2.25. Decent puncture resistance, fast rolling on tarmac (as far as MTB tyres go anyway) and a bit of grip if you want to so some light offroading.
