Do we reckon we will see some wacky pit strategies today, due to the rule of two stops, by some teams?

For example, Yuki pitting twice in relatively quick sucession not long after the race start to do a long stint on the hardest compound, in the hope he will hinder the drivers in front of Max at the race start?

I wouldn't be surprised if some cars pit on the first lap, but depends on the tyre life of the selected compounds, although if you can win with half your engine not working then could probably win on wets.

Whenever a rule change is put into place in F1 the teams will always work out the best way to work around it so yeah I'd expect some to pit on lap 1 and then hope for a safety car to get the 2nd one in.

If there is a lap 1 crash and safety car I reckon they'll all come in.

They're practically guaranteed at least one SC and maybe a red flag too but they have no idea of knowing when they'll be. I dunno, I think it'll be interesting this year, but once they've had a look at what actually happens I think it'll fail to do much next year as they all converge on the same approach. I do expect some teams to do some frankly absurd things.

I wonder whether teams who have their boxes after the start line can change tyres at the end of the formation lap and have that count? Guess I better go look up the rules.

suppose if its clean it could be a weird, but SC = pit basically.

back of the pack will all pit lap 1 I would have thought

band miss their cue?

Wouldn’t blame teams at the back for putting on 1 lap, it’s a no brainer, it’ll work out as a free pit stop.

Hope Norris wins this one.

It presents some theoretical excitement - double early pitters maybe gambling on a super boring no SC/RF race, some hoping for double SC/RF to get both stops done, some going in between... The reality will no doubt pan out far more boring than we all hope :p

May as well if you’re right at the back and get it out of the way. Should be able to catch the back of the pack.

Odds are there will be a safety car at some point though.

Aren't the tyres all a step softer than last year? I don't think even the hard will go a race distance.
