Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [Sunday 25th May @4pm 2025]

It’s funny to be feeling disappointed after what is objectively our best season for decades. Just a bit of an anticlimax losing the last game of the season at home.

Thought the players would be up for it and rise to the occasion but it sounds like they weren’t on it at all.

Still we’ve secured champions league so that’s the main thing.

One thing is for sure, we’re going to have to add to the squad this summer if we want to compete in the EPL and Champions League.

Time to splash some of that Saudi blood money…

Felt the same in 22/23 when we drew against Leicester and bottled 3rd place (but secured CL football). It hasn't quite sunk in yet (mainly because I'm mentally challenged) but this is the greatest season in my lifetime.

I fear for Newcastle doing a repeat of last season having to juggle CL and the league form suffers. I suspect it will happen to Forrest and Palace too.
We shouldn’t be in the same position this time, lots of PSR headroom this time. If we don’t see at least 5 first team ready players come though, I fear you might be right.

I really hope they do maintain it, as I said before, a friend of mine (Geordie) had a stroke late last year and he is still recovering/coping losing mobility on one side. His outlook on life totally changed because of that and the cup win really helped so Newcastle doing well is good for his mental health too.

What's the point of this? It won't change anything.
Don’t seem to remember them complaining much when they stayed up by a point, when someone forgot to switch on the goal line technology, and Bournemouth having a perfectly good goal ruled out. Villa took 2 points off Ipswich this season, I would say those results were the reason they didn’t get champions league

Wigan got relegated and qualified for Europe. Middlesbrough got to both FA Cup and League Cup final in the same years whilst also getting relegated.

Although Spurs case is most likely top.
Yep folk are making this into an issue.

The rules of the competitions have not changed lol.

I'd have snapped your hand off for a trophy and relegation under Ashley so to get CL and the League Cup while not signing a first team player since Lewis Hall is a remarkable achievement from Howe. Unbelievable coaching job while being hamstrung by the cartel 6.
