Looking for an upgrade for my daughters PC, currently has a GTX 1070 Nvidia running 1080p.

Also looking to buy a cheap but ok 27” screen, another 1080p or maybe 1440p depending on if a new GPU can handle it.

At that price for new cards there's only the Arc B580.

I would wait a couple of weeks and see what the 9060xt does to the market

That's expected to be £350 for the 16 GB model (don't buy the 8 GB model).

What about a 2nd hand card? RTX 3080 should be available around that price I would have thought.

This is a good idea. But check the VRAM: there are two versions of the RTX 3080 - 10 GB and 12 GB - and you want the latter.

I'd put in a request to the MM if you have access and don't mind second hand, your money will go further and people are usually happy to help with remaining warranty.

There are no way you can find RTX 3080 for £250, I checked MM found 10GB models asked for £350 and elsewhere found 12GB models asked for £400-450, both are out of your budget range.

I recommend RTX 5060 8GB you can get for £269 that is within your budget range.

if it performs well it might cause nvidia to panic on the 5060

A 4070 Super went for £350 the other day, there's absolutely deals to be had on there if you keep an eye out.

Elsewhere a 3080 10GB is best being sold for £300. Places like MM or elsewhere it's worth taking time and not rushing.

I just bought a 12GB RTX 3080 in the MM for £250 ;)

Ah found your post in MM page 4 you bought ASUS RTX 3080 TUF OC 12GB for £250, OP asked for £275 but you got it for amazing bargain £250 that you paid LESS than a poor buyer in page 5 bought very similar GPU ASUS RTX 3080 TUF OC 10GB for £265 plus £18.35 royal mail special delivery so he paid £283.35 in total.

If you are looking for new your only choice right now is the RTX 5060.

They are 8GB so if you do go that rout you're going to be largely stuck at 1080P.

AMD are releasing a 16GB card equivalent to a 5060 Ti in just over a weeks time for $350, assuming they actually are that price on release that would amount to about £330, which is still over your budget but its better than £400 which is what a 5060 Ti 16GB will cost you.

If you don't want to stretch that far and are looking for more than 8GB then you are looking at the used market.

I don't know anything about screens but i have had cheap AOC monitors in the past and it was ok, i had no complaints.

This one is 1080P, its IPS, its high refresh rate. £110, you can get cheaper screens but i don't think you would want to get absolute bottom of the barrel.

This one for £30 more is 1440P, its a VA panel tho, not IPS, my current panel is VA, the thing with VA is they have much deeper blacks than IPS but the Grey to Grey refresh rate is much slower so you get what is called black smearing, dark colours leave a trail behind during motion, i would say its not noticeable but..... it is, the up side is they do produce a nice contrasty colour.

Notice the contrast ratio on the IPS is 1,000:1 while on the VA its 4,000:1.

VA panels are considered inferior to IPS but better than LCD, like IPS they also don't have that colour shift when viewed from angles, like LCD's do.

Personally i like VA panels but i think an OLED would be better, we can all dream right? :D

Found RTX 5060 8GB review, faster than Intel B580 in many benchmarks.

It's not the only choice - Intel B580 is also £250

Keep forgetting about that, you're right but in that case yes while you're getting 12GB VRam, which is good but you're more likely to be trouble shooting issues with it than you are to run out of VRam with the Nvidia card.
